The Andalucia Valderrama Masters: Top Flight Golf on the Costa del Sol
ByThe famous Valderrama Golf Club in Sotogrande will host the 1st edition of the Andalucia Valderrama Masters next weekend (28th to 31st October). This new event on the European Tour calendar replaces the Volvo Masters, which was held at Valderrama for 16 years.
Valderrama will undoubtedly be the attraction of the week as fans flock to the famous golf course to catch a glimpse of their favourite golfers. As this is the last event of the European tour, some of the best golfers will battle it out for the 3 million Euros in prize money; the winner alone will take home 500,000 Euros! Not bad for a weekends work!
So who can we expect to see? Well for starters, the winners of two of this year’s majors will be taking to the course on Thursday; Graeme McDowell, Us Open champion and the hero of the European Ryder Cup team after winning the final singles match and US PGA winner Martin Kaymer.
Other names from the winning Ryder Cup team who will be playing in the event include local favourite, Miguel Angel Jiménez, Ross Fisher, Peter Hanson and the Molinari brothers.
As usual, we can expect a fantastic weekend of golf on Valderrama’s immaculate fairways and challenging greens, surrounded by the treacherous cork trees which the course is famous for.
