We thought it would be fun to ask our Facebook Fans to tell us what they like to do when they visit Benalmadena… We’ve outlined the best answers below. This list should keep you reasonably busy next time you come and stay in Benalmadena (Hopefully at Sunset Beach Club ;-))

Watch the spectacular dolphin and sea lion shows, meet the penguins in their icy cold habitat and discover the mysterious world of the Amazon. Our guest, Stuart, also suggests a nice pint of frosty San Miguel at the pool at Sunset Beach Club after your visit; can’t argue with that! 🙂

#2: Stroll Along the Promenade

A gentle stroll towards the Marina along the sun drenched promenade, browsing shops and stopping off along the way for a tasty cup of ‘café con leche’ whilst enjoying the stunning views out to sea.

#3: A Visit to Paloma Park

A visit to Paloma Park. Located in the centre of town, this gorgeous 200,000m2 park is the perfect place to enjoy a picnic. It’s the ideal spot if you have kids… you can feed the fish and large turtles which live in the lake and also interact with all the animals running around the park; rabbits, chickens and peacock’s are just some of the animals you’ll spot hiding amongst the bushes and plants or sprinting across the grass!

If it’s your first visit to Benalmadena, take a trip on the ‘Hop on, hop off’ tour bus to get your bearings and to give you an idea of places to visit during your stay. For just 13€ you get a ticket you can use for 48 hours; plenty of time to explore all the stops on the bus route.

#5: A Visit to The Marina

Take a trip down to the Marina. From Sunset Beach Club it’s just a 30 minute walk along the promenade or you can jump on the bus or grab a taxi. Voted the world’s best Marina on several occasions, it’s a must-visit during your stay. There are lots of great bars and restaurants offering a wide selection of foods. If you have kids, a visit to Sealife Aquarium is also a great way to spend a few hours!

#6: Dolphin Excursion

Whilst you are in the Marina, you can book an excursion to go and see the dolphins out at sea! There are a few companies offering trips to see these beautiful creatures but be aware that sightings are more common in the low season when there aren’t as many boats, jetskis, etc to scare off the dolphins. If you stay at Sunset Beach Club, you can often see them splashing around just off the rocks in front of the hotel 🙂

#7: A Ride on the Cable Car

Mary recommends a trip to the top of Mount Calamorro on the Benalmadena Cable Car. It’s a short 15 ride up the mountain and the views from the top are simply breathtaking. There are various paths and walkways for you to explore and special ‘miradors’ (viewing areas) from which to take stunning holiday snaps. The Birds of Prey exhibition is great fun to watch; you can get your photo taken with eagles, vultures and falcons.

#8: Visit Benalmadena Pueblo

Visit Benalmadena Pueblo for a real taste of Andalucia. Just a quick bus ride into the hills and you’ll discover one of the most beautiful villages on the Coast. There are some fabulous restaurants and tapas bars to sample the delicious local food and plenty of local shops and boutiques to browse. Located near the town are three very popular attractions: The Buddhist Temple, The Butterfly Park and the Colomares Castle.

Head up to the Friday Street Market located in the Tivoli World car park. If you’re looking for gifts or souvenirs to take home, you’ll find lots if goodies here!

Martina insists that a visit to Luna Beach Club is a must. Listening to the sound of the waves while enjoying great food… heaven! Please note that Luna Beach is only open during the high season (May to October).
