Ecological Tricycle taxis and tours in malaga

Ecological Tricycles in the streets of Málaga

Most tourists who visit the Costa del Sol take the time to visit its main city, Málaga. With its museums, cathedral, monuments and parks, the city is a required stop for all those keen to take in a bit of culture.

Until now the way to see the city was either by bus (guided tour) or on foot; however, for those not so keen on wearing out the soles of their shoes, there is an alternative, and its ecological; enter the new tricycle taxis.

This new service is designed to transport people through the centre of Málaga; not just tourists but locals too;  a godsend for many a businessman who needs to get across town but has no desire to tackle the cities mad traffic in a car.

The tricycles are actually manufactured in Germany and are built out of recyclable materials; powered by the drivers strength (pedal power) they are also equipped with small electric engines designed to help get up those steep hills (not that Málaga has too many of those).

The driver’s main priority is to get the passengers to their destination in a safe manner but they also become cultural guides, offering a wealth of information and tips to tourists who are new to the city. Most of them speak several languages and are keen to teach visitors about the history of the city as they ride through its streets.

Operating from 10am until 8pm, these unusual taxis are spread out throughout different parts of the city centre and connect vital areas such as the train station, the port, shopping centres and the Plaza de la Marina.

Perhaps, the real beauty of this initiative is that it’s another small step towards greener living, helping to make Málaga a more environmentally friendly city.
