The weather in Benalmadena

Whenever I speak to guests who are thinking of travelling to Benalmadena (and to Sunset Beach Club, of course) one of the first questions I get asked is “What’s the weather like in Benalmadena?” It’s to be expected, after all, most visitors are coming to the Costa del Sol to enjoy the sun!

So, I thought I’d write a quick blog post about the weather in Benalmádena; average temperatures, what to expect at different times of the year, and how to keep up to date with local weather forecasts.

Now, let’s get the bad news out of the way first: Yes, it can rain in Benalmádena and we do have days when a jacket is needed. 🙁

Right, that’s the bad news out of the way; let’s focus on the positive stuff. Benalmadena – and the rest of the Costa del Sol – enjoys an average of 320 days of sunshine per year! Yes, you read that right. That means that there is a great chance that your holidays will be blessed with sunshine; obviously, a lot depends on the dates you choose to travel, but hopefully the following graphs will give you a better idea of when to expect more rainfall and when you are practically guaranteed sunshine.

Average Temperatures in Benalmadena

Average maximum temperature throughout the year is a, very comfortable, 23ºC (Is that a smile I see on your face?) and average minimum temperature is a, bearable, 13ºC (please see the graphs).

Visitors can expect the cooler weather during the winter months (December to March) with temperatures rarely rising above the 20ºC mark – although the last couple of years have been an exception… it’s 24ºC as I write this in february!-. From April onwards, you’re looking at temperatures of 20ºC plus, reaching the mid 30’s in July and August – definitely sitting-in-the-pool-type weather!
