Benalmadena Pueblo Hosts its annual Arab Market

Arab Market in BenalmadenaStarting today, 27th August, and until Sunday the 30th August, Benalmádena Pueblo (the old town) will host the 5th edition of its Arab Market (Zoco), event that serves as the perfect end to the summer’s cultural programme. 

The Arab Market will take place in the following locations throughout the town: Plaza de las Tres Culturas, Plaza de España; in the Real and Santo Domingo de Guzmán streets and in the ‘Jardines del Muro’. Aimed at promoting the town’s beauty and charm, the town hall hopes that this unique event will attract tourists from all over the Coast.  Read More…

Cudeca Walkathon 2015On Sunday 17th May 2015,  the promenade in front of Sunset Beach Club in Benalmádena will become the meeting point for the 13th edition of the Cudeca Walkathon. 

Every year, we here at Sunset Beach Club provide our unconditional support to this fantastic event which aims to raise awareness for the incredible work the Cudeca Foundation does for Cancer patients here on the Costa del Sol. The funds raised during the Walkathon also allow for the continued palliative care the Cudeca hospice offers to more than 800 cancer patients and their families totally free of charge.  Read More…

Q de Calidad Turistica Playas de BenalmadenaLast week the Mayor of Benalmadena, Paloma García Gálvez, was in Fitur travel fair last week to promote our beautiful municipality and to receive an important award: The ‘Q’ for Quality awarded to all the city’s urban beaches.

This highly regarded distinction has actually been visible on Benalmadena beaches since the summer; last weeks presentation just made the award official!

The beaches included in the award comprise all located on the stretch of coast which goes from Fuente de la Salud Beach all the way to the beach at Sunset Beach Club. Read More…

To celebrate the worldwide premier of the new SpongeBob movie: Sponge Out of Water, Sea Life Benalmádena has been chosen as the only aquarium in Spain to take part in the official launch of the film.

Between the 23rd January and the 24th February 2015, visitors to the aquarium can take part in SpongeBob’s special SpongeHunt. The staff at Sea Life have been busy redecorating the aquarium tanks with all the movie’s characters and there will be special screenings of the film’s official trailer.   Read More…

Flamenco Week in BenalmadenaBenalmadena is getting ready to host one of the most important cultural events of its yearly calendar: Flamenco Week. Playing a key role in the promotion of the town’s Flamenco culture, the event has become one of the main tributes to this universal art in the province of Malaga. 

Flamenco Week takes place from the 14th to 21st November in various different cultural and educational centres of Benalmadena. Organised by Malaga’s ‘Peña La Repompa’ in collaboration with Benalmadena Council’s Cultural Department, the main aim of the event is to pay tribute to the art of Flamenco, coinciding with the celebration, on the 16th November, of the anniversary of Flamenco being declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.  Read More…

Benalmadena Tourism - Clear Blue sea and skyThe Mayor of Benalmádena, Paloma García Gálvez, has recently returned from a visit to the World Travel Market in London where she pointed out the strength of our town as a tourist destination, especially in international markets. 

The figures don’t lie and Benalmadena can proudly boast a notable increase in the number of foreign visitors who choose its fabulous attractions for their holidays. The year-to-date figures (January to September) show that almost 51,000 more foreign travellers visited the town than in the same period last year; an increase of almost 24 %. It’s worth pointing out that more than 40% of these foreign visitors who travel to Benalmadena every year are British.  Read More…
