Flamenco Week in BenalmadenaBenalmadena is getting ready to host one of the most important cultural events of its yearly calendar: Flamenco Week. Playing a key role in the promotion of the town’s Flamenco culture, the event has become one of the main tributes to this universal art in the province of Malaga. 

Flamenco Week takes place from the 14th to 21st November in various different cultural and educational centres of Benalmadena. Organised by Malaga’s ‘Peña La Repompa’ in collaboration with Benalmadena Council’s Cultural Department, the main aim of the event is to pay tribute to the art of Flamenco, coinciding with the celebration, on the 16th November, of the anniversary of Flamenco being declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.  Read More…

Benalmadena Tourism - Clear Blue sea and skyThe Mayor of Benalmádena, Paloma García Gálvez, has recently returned from a visit to the World Travel Market in London where she pointed out the strength of our town as a tourist destination, especially in international markets. 

The figures don’t lie and Benalmadena can proudly boast a notable increase in the number of foreign visitors who choose its fabulous attractions for their holidays. The year-to-date figures (January to September) show that almost 51,000 more foreign travellers visited the town than in the same period last year; an increase of almost 24 %. It’s worth pointing out that more than 40% of these foreign visitors who travel to Benalmadena every year are British.  Read More…

Paloma Park in Benalmadena included in Top 25 parks in EuropePaloma Park in Benalmádena has recently received an important award from Tripadvisor, the world’s nº1 travel review site. We’re delighted and proud to announce that our beautiful park located in the centre of the town is now included in Tripadvisor’s 25 Top Parks in Europe (nº24), a great bit of news to start off the busy summer season. :-)  

Tripadvisor is recognised as one the world’s most influential travel sites. In this second edition of its ‘Travellers’ Choice Attractions Awards’- which honors top landmarks and parks throughout Europe – the travellers who leave reviews on Tripadvisor have decided that this 200.000 square metre park is worthy of a place in the Top 25 list and thereby become one of the most recommended parks on the continent!  Read More…

Ruta de la Tapa Arroyo de la Miel 2014Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmadena Costa are getting ready to celebrate the 7th edition of their annual Tapas Route (Ruta de la Tapa), a gastronomic event which helps promote the town’s culinary culture as well as its establishments.

Costa del Jive 2014 at Sunset Beach Club, BenalmadenaThis weekend Sunset Beach Club welcomes over 100 dancers for the first edition of Costa del Jive, a week long event for fans of modern jive. 

The fun starts this Sunday the 30th March with welcome drinks and canapés in the hotel’s Sala Malaga followed by a night of dancing in the Moonlight Theatre from 9:00pm to 2:00am!

Foreign Tourist Attention CentreAccording to the Spanish Secretary of State for Security, less than one out of every thousand tourists who visit Spain are victims of crime; a low figure which contributes to Spain’s popularity as a safe and popular holiday destination. 

That being said, this low crime doesn’t console the unlucky few who do fall victim to petty thieves who take advantage of occasional lapses.

These unfortunate incidences usually mean having to go to the police and file a report,  phone banks to cancel credit cards and contact local consulates or embassies to report stolen passports. This could mean hours spent at the local police station without a qualified translator and valuable holiday time wasted.  Read More…

The fun starts with the official opening of the Carnival – known as the ‘Pregon’- which takes place in the ‘Plaza de la Mezquita’ at 8:00pm. This marks the start of a fortnight full of colour, creativity and fun with activities and events for all ages.
