We didn’t want to miss it and were there to take a few photos and video clips of the show! (See below).
The Cherry Boppers’ powerful live show and unique mix of funk, jazz and rock made for a fantastic evening of entertainment; hopefully they’ll come back again for their next album launch

16 musicians and dancers perform in this Tango Show
Last November we were fortunate enough to host an amazing evening of spectacular Argentine Tango dancing and traditional folk music.
Well, we are pleased to announce that the ‘Arcos de Buenos Aires’ company are back with a fantastic new show which is sure to delight Tango fans along the Costa del Sol.
Made up of a string chamber orchestra and a spectacular tango ballet, the ‘Arcos de Buenos Aires’ company is conducted by prestigious violinist and conductor, Walter O. Tejada Carranza. Benalmadena Hosts the National Electronic Darts Championship

This coming weekend – from 23rd to 25th March 2012 – Benalmadena will host the National Electronic Darts Championship.
According to figures released by the Championship’s organisers, there are approximately 2500 players signed up for the event. Benalmadena will be welcoming players from all over Spain, many of whom, will be coming with their families; great news for local tourism! (By the way, if anyone is looking for accommodation for the event, we know a really good 4 star hotel located on the seafront..;-))
The Championship will be held at the Holiday Village Hotel and will include the following categories: Individual male and female, pairs, mixed triples and teams. The whole tournament will take place under the ‘open’ format meaning that anyone who is interested in playing can sign up to compete.
Juan Olea, local councillor in charge of sports, has expressed his satisfaction at the number of players signed up for the event: “The National Darts Championship will be a splendid opportunity for thousands of people to get to know Benalmadena and for them to enjoy the large variety of activities we have to offer”.
The town hall hopes that talks held with the Federation of Darts Clubs will help to establish Benalmadena as the official host of this Championship.
The finalists of the different categories will travel t oLas Vegas representing the National Team

Barbershop Singers Convention Comes to Benalmádena

Don’t be surprised if you are walking down the street in Benalmadena next weekend – from the 22nd to 25th March 2012 – and come across groups of singers performing a cappella! You’ll have witnessed barbershop singers and enthusiasts showing off their harmony singing talents.
Benalmadena will welcome approximately 600 barbershop singers for the 4th annual convention of the Spanish Association of Barbershop Singers (SABS). Delegates will be flying in from the Americas, the UK and from all over Europe.
Barbershop singing originated in the United States in the early 1900’s and has since gained worldwide popularity with thousands of singers practising and promoting this unique art form of four-part a cappella singing. Read More→
Three Kings Parade in Benalmadena

The kids are getting excited as their favourite day of the year approaches: Three Kings. As is tradition here in Spain, families congregate to watch the popular Three Kings parades which take place in most towns and cities. This year, Benalmadena town hall has organised a fantastic parade which you wont want to miss.

12:00 pm – The 3 Kings arrive by boat at the Marina’s eastern pier. Upon arrival, they will head to the area between Avenida Alay and Antonio Machado; fromm here, the children will have the opportunity to hand over their letters (with their present wish list) to the 3 wise men as well as enjoy entertainment and animation which has been organised. The local business association will also donate a large number of gifts and toys which will be handed out amongst all children who attend the arrival of the Three Kings. Read More→

Benalmadena is getting ready for the 5th edition of its popular and highly successful Blues Festival. As on previous occasions, this years amazing line up of musicians and DJ’s will be performing on the stage of Sunset Beach Club’s Moonlight Theatre.
The festival kicks of on Friday the 25th November 2011 and ends on the afternoon of Sunday the 27th November. Organised by Active Sound Productions, this years event promises to be “THE” event for blues lovers up and down the Coast. The musicians featured in this year’s edition will be playing a wide variety of styles, including: Rhythm and blues, rock and roll, rock-a-billy, punk blues, soul, garage rock, surf and hot swing. Posted by: | CommentsA few weeks ago, I asked our Facebook fans to describe Sunset Beach Club in one word… the response was unbelievable!
I was expecting a couple of fans to answer but was pleasantly surprised when I logged in to our Facebook account the following morning to find that 79 people had submitted the one word which they felt best described our hotel.
Instead of just listing all 79 words, I thought it would be fun to create a Word Cloud; a more visually pleasing way to read the wonderful words our guests and fans used to describe Sunset Beach Club.

The Virgen del Carmen Processions: Don’t Miss this Breathtaking Cultural Event

For those of you who enjoy taking in a little Spanish culture during your holidays, I highly recommend you take a couple of hours this Saturday (16th July) to go and see one of the many “Virgen del Carmen” processions taking place along the Coast.
Last year I went along to the Virgen del Carmen procession in Los Boliches – just a 15 minute drive from the hotel – and thoroughly enjoyed the experience (follow the link to the blog post I wrote).
I won’t provide a long winded explanation of what this day represents – you can see this post about the Virgen del Carmen celebrations for that – but I will quickly explain a little about the reason for this colourful and emotional event.
The Virgen del Carmen, or Stella Maris, as she is often referred to is the patron saint of fishermen and of the Spanish Navy! If you visit one of the processions which take place in most of the “traditional” fishing villages along the Coast – Los Boliches, Benalmádena,La Carrihuelain Torremolinos, Marbella and Estepona, to name but a few – you will witness the pure devotion the local villagers towards their patron saint.

European Darts Championship: Radikal Darts

Are you a darts fan? Yes! Well, this weekend, you won’t want to miss the “Radikal Darts” Spanish and European Darts Championships which will be held at the Torrequebrada hotel (just a few minutes walk from Sunset Beach Club).
More than 2000 darts fans will flock to Benalmádena to take part in this unique championship organised by the Spanish Darts Confederation; over 100 of these players will be staying at Sunset Beach Club J Many will be travelling to the Coast to enjoy some sunshine and their favourite hobby, whereas others, will be attracted by the chance to win some cash; there will be a prize pot of 30.000 Euros!
The most curious fact about this tournament is that it involves the use of the “Radikal Darts” dart board; a special electronic dart board which allows players to play and compete over the internet. Thanks to this innovative technology, many of the players taking part in the tournament actually qualified from the comfort of their local puds! The Radikal Darts system allowed for scores to be collected over the internet…technology at its best!
Two watch the Spanish Championship, just head down to the Torrequebrada hotel at 10am on Friday the 20th May; the European Championship starts on Saturday 21st May at the same time.
