Concerts on the Costa del Sol: A Full List of This Summer’s Top Live Acts

Concert season is in full swing on the Costa del Sol. Many of our guests like to know what’s going on up and down the Coast as they often like to get out and experience some of the great nightlife we have on offer in this wonderful part of the world and a good concert is the perfect excuse for a great night out.

Yes, we do have a great entertainment programme on-site at Sunset Beach Club, with live music, tribute bands and musicals; however, sometimes even we can’t compete with the likes of Robbie Williams, Tom Jones or The Black Eyed Peas!

There are plenty of live concerts programmed along the coast over the summer: Below, we have highlighted some of the top concerts and shows with information on specific dates, venues and ticket prices.

(Note: Ticket prices are correct at the time of publishing this post but could vary as ticket availability changes. Please check the links at the bottom to see the latest prices.)

Costa del Sol Concerts 2013

As we approach the busy summer season, we’ve decided to put together our – now regular – list of the top concerts on the Costa del Sol for this summer 2013. There are some fantastic musicians and entertainers performing live at various venues along the Coast; however, this year, one event stands out from the rest: The Starlite Festival in Marbella.

After the success of last year’s series of concerts in the concert arena located in the Nagueles quarry, the organisers have lined up an even more impressive list of top international and Spanish artists including Julio Iglesias, Jamie Cullum, Bryan Adams, Paco de Lucía, UB40 and Alejandro Sanz. The Starlite Festival will run from the 23rd July to the 24th August and you can see the schedule for the concerts below. (more…)

Bob Marley Day in Malaga: A Tribute to The King of Reggae

Bob Marley Day in MalagaNext week sees the 66th anniversary of the birth of Jamaica’s most famous musician: Robert Nesta Marley (6th February, 1945). As a tribute to this legend of Reggae, various cities around the world will join in this global project and celebrate their very own “Bob Marley Day”: Paris, London, New York, Buenos Aires and, of course, Kingston are some of the cities where Reggae lovers will be able to celebrate Bob Marley’s music (and his birthday!).

This year will be the first time that these festivals are held in Spain. Various Spanish cities will join in the festivities to celebrate “Bob Marley Day”: Alicante, Barcelona, Pamplona and Madrid will all join Málaga in organising their very own tributes to the King of Reggae.

Some of the best Spanish reggae musicians in today’s music scene as well as some international stars will take part in the various concerts organised around the country; all will be performing tributes to the Jamaican icon as well as some of their own material.

On Friday the 4th February in Málaga’s “Sala Vivero”, Reggae fans from all over the Costa del Sol and beyond can enjoy over 4 hours of live music from Brinsley Forde, the lead singer of British Band Aswad, Madrid based Ras Kuko and Bratt, The Mad Sensi Band, Malaga’s very own South Fire and Chalice Sound. “I Shot the Sheriff” “No woman no cry” “Exodus” “Could you be loved” “Jamming”; these are just some of the golden hits you’ll be able to listen to at this tribute concert.

A percentage of the ticket sales will be donated to the “Spanish Music Lessons” project; the brainchild of a local International Monetary Fund employee (from Santander) who is based in Kingston, Jamaica. This organisation is dedicated to teaching music to young children – between the ages of 8 and 12 – who live in the conflictive areas of downtown Kingston; they learn to read music, play the violin and learn about music.

Prices to the “Bob Marley Day” concert in Málaga are €10 if you buy now and €12 on the day….Bargain!
