Recreation of the napoleonic invasion of Mijas PuebloThis weekend – 10th & 11th October – the village of Mijas will be recreating the Napoleonic invasion of 1808, a historic event when the villagers had to defend their homes from Napoleon troops.

Mijas Town Hall has been organising this event since 2009 together with the Torrijos 1831 Cultural & Historic Association; its uniqueness has certainly increased its popularity since then!

To add a little more flavour to the events, this year, the local artisans and business associations have decided to contribute to the activities by putting on an Artisans Market offering all sorts 19th century themed goodies including: soaps, crystal and glass products, leather goods and Mexican jewellery which, in those times, were shipped to Spain from the New World. Festival de la Luna Mora de GuaroThis weekend – from the 11th and 12th September – the picturesque white village of Guaro celebrates the 19th edition of its famous ‘Luna Mora’ Festival.

This year’s festivities have been reduced to two days (It’s usually four) but they’ve still managed to put together an impressive programme of events with activities and entertainment for all the family.

Throughout the weekend, the village becomes a meeting point for traditional Andalusí music and culture. The streets come alive in the evenings with the stunning illumination of 25,000 candles strategically positioned to create a unique and magical ambiance. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the traditional Arab artisan market, workshops (Henna and belly dancing), street performers, storytelling and mouth watering gastronomy. Read More…

The Luna Mora Festival Returns to Mijas Pueblo

Festival de la Luna Mora de MijasAfter the success of the previous edition, the white village of Mijas will celebrate its second Luna Mora Festival. Last year, this unique event managed to attract more than 20,000 visitors and organisers are hoping to more than double that figure attracting over 45,000 people to this years festivities.

One of the highlights of this year’s event is the fact that it will be celebrated over two consecutive weekends; from the 17th to 19th July and from the 31st July to 2nd August. The other notable addition this year is that all the activities and attractions will extend into the centre of town multiplying the festivals surface area by five.  Read More…

Grand Beer Festival Fuengirola 2015The spectacular Sohail Castle in Fuengirola will, once again, host the city’s very own ‘Oktoberfest': the 8th Grand Beer Festival.

This fun beer festival (Oktoberfest Olé) opens to the public from the 3rd July to the 19th July. If you’re a beer lover, this is one stop you’ll have to make during your holiday. You’ll be able to sample the finest Bavarian beers and tasty dishes including german sausages, frikadellen and chucrut. All this accompanied by live music from a true German orchestra! They even have a special kids area with organised activities to keep the little ones amused :-).

Malaga's White Night 2015Malaga’s ‘La Noche en Blanco’ (White Night) has established itself as one the city’s most important cultural events. On Saturday 16th May – from 8:00pm to 02:00am – all who visit the Costa del Sol’s capital will be treated to an unbelievable selection of free cultural activities. 

This years event will have 183 different activities, with a couple of notable new additions including the new Pompidou Centre and the collection from the Russian Museum of St Petersburg. All the activities are grouped into six categories and themes:

  •  Art, Museums and Exhibitions (48 activities)
  • Artistic performances. Urbanand Street actions (27 activities)
  • Visual Arts (15 activities)
