Jump on the 120 Bus for a Value-for-Money Day Out!
Posted by: | CommentsReading through our latest reviews on Tripadvisor, I came across a very complementary comment by a guest who recently stayed with us at Sunset Beach Club.
Apart from his very kind words praising our facilities and friendly staff (thank you!), this guest also reminded me of our hotel’s fantastic location as a base to explore other areas and towns on the Costa del Sol. In particular, he made reference to the bus stop just outside the hotel and the fantastic nº120 bus! Yes, we have taxis outside the hotel, but the beauty the 120 bus is that it only costs €1.50 per trip

Local Festivities in Benalmádena Pueblo
Posted by: | Comments
It’s definitely a busy week as far as fairs and local festivities are concerned! In a previous post we mentioned the Málaga Fair which starts this weekend and today we’re letting you know about the fair in Benalmadena Village which kicks off tomorrow (11th August).
Nowhere near as busy – or chaotic – as the Málaga fair, this local fair is more of a low key affair and a great option for those looking to experience a traditional local fair for the first time.
As is typical in most local festivities, the fair is split into two: A day time version where you can indulge in some great tapas and wines as well as dance to sounds of traditional flamenco music! At night its time for the fun fair where children and adults alike will have a blast on all the rides available!
There will be live music every evening at the main fair ground for those who fancy it and on Monday the 15th August, the town hall has organised its first fancy dress rally where participants have to decorate their cars as extravagantly and originally as possible; the best “design” gets a prize! Should be fun to see how artistic the Benalmádena locals can get
Throughout the 5 days, there will be a number if competitions and tournaments which will allow visitors to the “feria” the chance to win some great prizes, including restaurant meals, toys and other fun gifts.
If you’re staying at Sunset Beach Club, make sure you visit Benalmádena village fair for a taste of the real Spain…and a whole lot of fun too!
Just a friendly reminder that if you are looking for somewhere to stay during “Feria Week”, you can check availability for our hotel at www.sunsetbeachclub.com

Posted by: | Comments
For those of you who enjoy taking in a little Spanish culture during your holidays, I highly recommend you take a couple of hours this Saturday (16th July) to go and see one of the many “Virgen del Carmen” processions taking place along the Coast.
Last year I went along to the Virgen del Carmen procession in Los Boliches – just a 15 minute drive from the hotel – and thoroughly enjoyed the experience (follow the link to the blog post I wrote).
I won’t provide a long winded explanation of what this day represents – you can see this post about the Virgen del Carmen celebrations for that – but I will quickly explain a little about the reason for this colourful and emotional event.
The Virgen del Carmen, or Stella Maris, as she is often referred to is the patron saint of fishermen and of the Spanish Navy! If you visit one of the processions which take place in most of the “traditional” fishing villages along the Coast – Los Boliches, Benalmádena,La Carrihuelain Torremolinos, Marbella and Estepona, to name but a few – you will witness the pure devotion the local villagers towards their patron saint.
The processions usually start off in the afternoon as the fishermen carry their “Virgen” – which is usually handcrafted in wood and porcelain Read More→
