Exposición Benalmádena de Ayer y HoySince  the 30th October the Benalmadena Exhibition Centre (Located just in from of the Riviera Hotel) has been featuring a stunning collection of photographs which highlight Benalmadena’s urban evolution over the past 60 years.

The exhibition, named ‘Benalmadena de Ayer y Hoy’ (Benalmadena of Yesterday and Today), features over 100 photos from an important database of images collected and treasured over the last 60 years by local families and with contributions from the Local Library’s archives.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to view old photos of the municipality’s three main districts and will observe the changes which have taken place over the past half century by comparing them with present day photos.

It’s fascinating to see how Benalmadena, which 50 years ago was just a small town perched on the hillside and practically unheard of, has gradually transformed and grown to become one the Costa del Sol’s main tourist destinations.

If you choose to visit the exhibition, you’ll see photos of Arroyo de la Miel when it consisted of only a half dozen streets stemming from a generous spring and of Benalmadena Costa when there was only one hotel and few scattered houses located along the old N-340 coast road.

With more than 3500 people visiting the exhibition since it opened to the public, its great success has persuaded the organisers to extend its dates to the 1st February 2015.
