We\u2019ve finally got a date for the official opening of the much-awaited Thyssen Museum of M\u00e1laga: The 24th<\/sup> March 2011 is the chosen date for the inauguration of Baroness Thyssen\u2019s latest project.<\/p>\n

The general public will have to wait one more day \u2013 Friday 25th<\/sup> March \u2013 in order to be able to enjoy the impressive collection which will be exhibited in the Palacio de Villal\u00f3n, a XVI century building located in the historical heart of M\u00e1laga. This beautiful building has been completely renovated and fitted out for cultural exhibitions \u2013 M\u00e1laga Town Hall has already invested more than 15 million euros on this ambitious project.<\/p>\n

For the first three days of operation, entrance to the museum will be free of charge; a great opportunity for locals and tourists to enjoy fine art at a great price\u2026free!<\/p>\n

The museum will have a permanent collection and three temporary exhibitions. The permanent collection is made up of 230 works of art from the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza collection covering Spanish art from the XIX. Visitors will be able to enjoy works of art from painters such as Sorolla, Zurbar\u00e1n, Zuloaga, Romero de Torresy and M\u00e1laga favourites such as G\u00f3mes Gil, Moreno Carbonero o Barr\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

The series of three temporary exhibitions programmed for 2011 will start with \u201cFrom Picasso to T\u00e0pies\u201d and will include pieces from Picasso, Torres-Garc\u00eda, Saura and T\u00e0pies. In September the museum will introduce work from Monet with \u201cMonet: The house amongst the roses\u201d. The final instalment of exhibitions will take place in November with \u201cSorolla in Andalucia\u201d; 80 paintings from the Valencian artist\u2019s repertoire.<\/p>\n

Tuesday to Friday \u2013 10am to 10pm<\/p>\n

Saturday and Sunday \u2013 10 am to 9pm<\/p>\n
