It is voluntary eco-label which is awarded to over 3450 beaches and marinas in 41 countries around the world.<\/p>\n<p>The award of a Blue Flag beach is based on compliance with 32 strict criteria covering the following aspects:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Environmental Education and Information<\/li>\n<li>Water Quality<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Management<\/li>\n<li>Safety and Services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For a full list of the criteria, you can visit the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blueflag.org\/Menu\/Criteria\/Beaches\" target=\"_blank\">Blue Flag<\/a><\/span> website.<\/p>\n<p>When a beach is awarded a Blue Flag, it\u2019s important to note that this is only valid for one season at a time; if some of the imperative criteria are not fulfilled during the season or the conditions change, the Blue Flag gets withdrawn.<\/p>\n<p>The benefits for Benalmadena in receiving these Blue Flags are several, but perhaps the most important is the benefit to tourism; these flags help recognise the excellence of the beaches in Benalmadena \u2013 and the hard work of the municipal teams in charge of their maintenance. The town lives off tourism and most visitors come in search of sun and beach; the town hall has realised the importance of its beaches to attract holiday makers and has therefore invested heavily in improving services, installations, accessibility and general cleanliness; the result is evident\u20264 blue flags!<\/p>\n<p>Guests who stay at Sunset Beach Club will be happy to know that one of the beaches awarded with a Blue Flag in the Torrevig\u00eda Beach located just minutes to the west of Sunset Beach Club (It\u2019s actually the beach where our Luna Beach Club is located J). The three other beaches which will be flying the Blue flag this summer are the following:<\/p>\n<p>Playa de Fuente de la Salud and Playa Malapesquera (both near the Marina) and Playa Carvajal (located on the way to Fuengirola).<\/p>\n<p>So what are you waiting for?
