Many of you will recognise him a the \u201cCartoon Guy\u201d who sits by the pool area during these warm summer days and delights children and adults alike, with his fantastic caricatures.<\/p>\n

His name is Raheem Jabbar and he is our resident artist. He spends his time at Sunset Beach Club creating fun and memorable caricatures which provide many of our guests with a memorable souvenir of their fun packed holiday. Yes, you have to pay for the privilege but Raheem\u2019s prices are very reasonable and as you will learn later in this post, you are getting a caricature from a true artist! – Might even be worth something in the future \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Anyway, that\u2019s not what this post is about; there\u2019s no doubt that Raheem is extremely talented at drawing caricatures, but there is a lot more to his artistic talent\u2026<\/p>\n

Originally fromIraq, Raheem studied art at theUniversityofBaghdad. During his studies, he also worked in the university\u2019s art department as an assistant lecturer. Unfortunately, due to the severe political unrest in his country, in 1995 he was forced to leave his homeland;Spainwas his chosen destination and he has been here ever since.<\/p>\n

Whilst chatting with Raheem, he explained that his art work encompasses many different disciplines: Ceramic, painting, prints, sculptures, and even architecture. Judging by the photos I\u2019ve seen of some of his work (You can see some of them in the photo gallery below), he seems to have mastered all of them! His work has been exhibited inIraq,Jordanand locally in Benalmadena and Fuengirola.<\/p>\n

So next time you see Raheem by the pool, be sure to chat to him about his art work; he is extremely knowledgeable and if you like art, you\u2019re in for a treat.
