Amazing Skiing in Sierra Nevada<\/p><\/div>\n

You\u2019ve probably heard people mention it and you may have read about it in magazines and newspapers, but have you actually been to Sierra Nevada?<\/p>\n

This impressive ski resort is located a mere 2 hour drive from Sunset Beach Club, which makes it an ideal destination for a day trip into the mountains or a longer weekend break.<\/p>\n

Regarded as one of the top ski resorts inSpain, Sierra Nevada is a favourite destination for snow lovers from all over Spain, and indeed, other European countries.<\/p>\n

With 119 slopes (over100 Km)Sierra Nevadaprovides the perfect facilities for skiers of all levels \u2013 and also for non skiers! The resort is constantly renewing and innovating with the introduction of new and unique activities designed to ensure that visitors have a whale of a time. A perfect example is the impressive Sulayr Super Park, a dedicated state-of-the-art area for practicing snow board and freestyle. Popular with the younger generation of \u201cextreme\u201d sport fans, this park has a new addition this year: the largest permanent\u2018half pipe\u2019 in the whole of Spain. The measurements say it all;165 metres in length,6 metres high and an incline level of 32.5%, this is sure to be the hit of the season!<\/p>\n

Great Fun for Families<\/h3>\n

If you plan on visiting Sierra Nevada as a family, you\u2019re in for a real treat. The resort has paid special attention to this demographic and many of the recent renovations and work throughout the resort have been designed especially for them.<\/p>\n

A special area called \u2018DreamLand\u2019 is the perfect area for young children to begin their skiing exploits; with special lessons, gentle learning slopes and a cr\u00e8che facility, this is a favourite amongst families visiting the Sierra. Children under 5 are allowed to access the resort for free and Cetursa (the company that runs the resort) has some fantastic offers and discounts for families \u2013 great fun and easy on the pocket\u2026result!<\/p>\n

If skiing isn\u2019t your cup of tea, there are plenty of other activities to keep you amused: Ice skating and speeding down a ski slope on a large rubber tire spring to mind!<\/p>\n

Sierra Nevada Accommodation, Restaurants and Night Life<\/h3>\n

If you feel that one day in the Sierra wont cut it, there are plenty of hotels, hostels and self catering apartments where you can extend your stay. Pricing varies as you can choose from high quality 4 star establishment such as the Melia Sierra Nevada (love their indoor pool :-)) or go the more economical route by renting a self-catering apartment or staying in a hostel.<\/p>\n

After a long day on the slopes, you will have built up a healthy appetite. The Pradollano area of Sierra Nevada (the main town area) has a great selection of restaurants and caf\u00e9s to choose from; the following are just a few of them: Restaurante La Bodega, Restaurante Ruta del Veleta (I recently saw a TV programme about this one and the food looked fantastic!), Restaurante La Tinaja de la Sierra.<\/p>\n

If you still feel up for it, Sierra Nevada is well known for its amazing nightlife. Discoteca Slalom is probably one of the trendier and popular night spots, but there are many other \u2018disco pubs\u2019 to choose from.<\/p>\n

How to get to Sierra Nevada<\/h3>\n

From M\u00e1laga, take the A-45 towards Antequera and then take the A-92 towards Granada. Before you get to the centre of Granada, you need to take the ring road and follow the signs that say \u2018Sierra Nevada\u2019 (You can\u2019t miss them). Take the exit for the A-395 which will take you all the way up toSierra Nevada. \ud83d\ude0e<\/p>\n
