\"Carnival<\/a>The fun and entertainment of Carnival is about to kick off here on the Costa del Sol.<\/p>\n

Carnival season is popular in many of the towns and cities located up and down the coast but in this post, we\u2019re going to focus on two cities: Benalmadena (for obvious reasons) and the amazing M\u00e1laga Carnival which is probably the most spectacular and colourful of all!<\/p>\n

Although we refer to it as \u2018Carnival Week\u2019 it actually goes on for a little longer\u2026 10 days. There are literally hundreds of activities and events taking place during these festivities; below, we\u2019ve highlighted some of the most popular you\u2019ll want to look out for in each of the cities.<\/p>\n

Malaga<\/strong> Carnival<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

2nd<\/sup> February<\/strong><\/p>\n

9:30pm<\/strong> \u2013 \u2018Gran Gala del Carnaval\u2019 in the Plaza de la Constituci\u00f3n \u2013 Lots of singing, dancing and the election of the \u2018Dioses\u2019 (Translated as Gods) of the Carnaval.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

3rd<\/sup> February<\/strong><\/p>\n

5:00pm<\/strong> \u2013 The Great Carnival Parade through the streets of Malaga\u2019s Historic Centre. Lots of people dressed in fancy dress coupled with lots of singing and dancing\u2026 not to be missed!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

9th<\/sup> February<\/strong><\/p>\n

8:00pm<\/strong> \u2013 Batalla de las Flores (Battle of Flowers) and a carriage parade in the Historic Centre of the city.<\/p>\n

9:30pm<\/strong> \u2013 Drag Queen contest in the \u2018Plaza dela Constituci\u00f3n\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

10th February<\/strong><\/p>\n

12:00pm<\/strong> \u2013 \u2018Gran Boqueron\u00e1, a gastronomic party with traditional singing.<\/p>\n

4:00pm<\/strong> \u2013 Parade for the \u2018Entierro del Boqueron\u2019 all the way to La Malagueta Beach.<\/p>\n

Benalmadena Carnival<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

2nd<\/sup> February<\/strong><\/p>\n

7:00pm \u2013 Grand Carnival Parade and fancy dress competition in Benalmadena Pueblo.<\/p>\n

7:30 to 10:30pm \u2013 The Carnival Ball in Benalmadena Pueblo.<\/p>\n

3rd<\/sup> February<\/strong><\/p>\n

1:00pm<\/strong> \u2013 Gastronomic Carnival in Benalmadena Pueblo with a traditional \u2018Potaje Carnavalero\u2019 (Carnival stew)<\/p>\n

1:30pm<\/strong> \u2013 Gastronomic Carnival in Arroyo dela Miel (Plaza dela Mezquita) with traditional \u2018Potaje Carnavalero\u2019 (Carnival Stew).<\/p>\n

8th February<\/strong><\/p>\n

10:00pm<\/strong> \u2013 Election of the Carnival Drag Queen in Plaza de la Mezquita<\/p>\n

9th<\/sup> February<\/strong><\/p>\n

6:00pm<\/strong> – Grand Carnival Parade and fancy dress competition in Arroyo de la Miel. Starts of at Tivoli World and ends in Plaza de la Mezquita<\/p>\n

7:30 to 10:30pm<\/strong> \u2013 The Carnival Ball in Arroyo de la Miel (Plaza de la Mezquita)<\/p>\n

10th February<\/strong><\/p>\n

12:00pm<\/strong> – \u2018Quema de la Lagartija\u2019 Parade, from Plaza de la Mezquita to the fair ground above Paloma Park.<\/p>\n

1:00pm<\/strong> \u2013 Gastronomic Carnival and Party in the Paloma Park fair ground.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget that Carnival Week is a time to \u2018let your hair down\u2019 and have some fun before the rigors and abstentions of the Easter Religious Holidays come into effect.<\/p>\n
