Playing a key role in the promotion of the town\u2019s Flamenco culture, the event has become one of the main tributes to this universal art in the province of Malaga.<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Flamenco Week takes place from the 14<sup>th<\/sup> to 21<sup>st<\/sup> November<\/b> in various different cultural and educational centres of Benalmadena. Organised by Malaga\u2019s \u2018Pe\u00f1a La Repompa\u2019 in collaboration with Benalmadena Council\u2019s Cultural Department, the main aim of the event is to pay tribute to the art of Flamenco, coinciding with the celebration, on the 16<sup>th<\/sup> November, of the anniversary of Flamenco being declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Throughout this week long Flamenco festivity, song and guitar will become protagonists of a <b>wide variety of activities and performances including poetry recitals, gastronomic tastings, film screenings and performances by renowned artists.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Guitarist, Andr\u00e9s Cansino, and singer, Raquel Garcia, will be performing \u2018initiation to flamenco\u2019 concerts in the town\u2019s schools.<\/p>\n<p>Programme of events for Benalmadena\u2019s Flamenco Week<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Friday 14<sup>th<\/sup> November at 9:00pm<\/b>: \u2018Poetry &amp; Flamenco\u2019 Show at Colegio Salvador Rueda.<\/li>\n<li><b>Saturday 15<sup>th<\/sup> November at 2:00pm:<\/b> Traditional Flamenco casserole in the BullfightingMuseum.<\/li>\n<li><b>Monday 17<sup>th<\/sup> November at 9:00pm:<\/b> Flamenco evening with singing and dancing performed by the young artists of the \u2018Escuela de la Federaci\u00f3n Provincial de Pe\u00f1as\u2019 at Colegio Salvador Rueda.<\/li>\n<li><b>Tuesday 18<sup>th<\/sup> November at 9:00pm:<\/b> Performance by recognised artist, Delia Membrive, (accompanied by Rub\u00e9n Escalona on guitar) at the \u2018Pe\u00f1a Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de la Cruz\u2019 in Benalmadena Pueblo.<\/li>\n<li><b>Wednesday 19<sup>th<\/sup> November at 9:00pm:<\/b> Guitar recital in honour of Paco de Lucia at the Bil-Bil Castle (5 minutes walk from Sunset Beach Club) featuring Andr\u00e9s Cansino, Jos\u00e9 Luis Lastre and Juan Heredia.<\/li>\n<li><b>Thursday 20<sup>th<\/sup> November at 9:00pm:<\/b> Flamenco cinema session in the main hall at Colegio Salvador Rueda.<\/li>\n<li><b>Friday 21<sup>st<\/sup> November at 9:00pm:<\/b> Grand party with performances by guitarist Luis \u2018El Salao\u2019 and cantaores (singers) Jos\u00e9 M\u00e9ndez, Francisco Bonela, Bernardo V\u00e1zquez and Manuel de la Curra at Colegio Salvador Rueda.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you enjoy Spanish culture and, in particular, the art of Flamenco, we thoroughly recommend you make the most of this unique event by attending one (or more) of the above-mentioned performances and shows.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tweet Benalmadena is getting ready to host one of the most important cultural events of its yearly calendar: Flamenco Week.
