Malaga Christmas Lights in Calle Larios<\/p><\/div>\n

M\u00e1laga city centre is famous for its\u2019 stunning Christmas lights<\/strong>. Hundreds of thousands of people visit the city\u2019s Calle Larios to see the spectacular lights, and every year, we\u2019re treated to a more impressive display!<\/p>\n

This year is no exception with the town hall spending a whopping 573,201 Euros on the lights<\/strong>! This might seem like a lot but when you see the amount of people who show up at 6:30pm every day to watch the lights be switched on, you begin to understand why. Business is booming and the city has a real Christmassy feel to it.<\/p>\n

So\u2026 a visit to Calle Larios is definitely a must over the Christmas holidays. It\u2019s going to be packed but it really is worth it as the lights are gob-smackingly beautiful. Take your time strolling up Malaga\u2019s most iconic street and soak up the fun atmosphere as you listen to various bands playing typical Spanish Christmas songs and carols.<\/p>\n

At the top of Calle Larios you\u2019ll find the \u2018Plaza de la Constituci\u00f3n\u2019 with its gigantic and colourful Christmas tree and large stage area where live concerts and shows take place over the holidays. If you fancy a break and a good coffee, we recommend a visit to Cafeter\u00eda Central<\/strong>, one of Malaga\u2019s oldest establishments and a great place to enjoy traditional \u2018Churros\u2019 with hot chocolate or one of their famous coffees.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re feeling a little peckish, venture down some of the historic centre\u2019s cobbled streets where you\u2019ll find some great tapas bars serving yummy traditional – and more elaborate – dishes.<\/p>\n

The Roman Theatre and Alcazaba lit up at night<\/p><\/div>\n

One of the most popular bars and restaurants is \u2018El Pimpi\u2019<\/strong> located just in front of the Roman Theatre and facing the Alcazaba Fortress (see photo). Great tapas and wines are served throughout the day at very reasonable prices. Be sure to get there early though as it gets very busy.<\/p>\n

The Pompidou Centre in the Muelle Uno Waterfront<\/p><\/div>\n

After your meal, and to help with digestion, we recommend a brisk walk down to the Muelle Uno Shopping Centre on the waterfront.<\/strong> Home to the new Pompidou Centre (see photo) this impressive area also has a multitude of shops and restaurants as well as a traditional Christmas market where you\u2019ll find all sorts of gifts and goodies to put in your stockings :-).<\/p>\n

The views from Muelle Uno are spectacular!<\/p><\/div>\n

The views over the port and towards the city centre are breathtaking. The new Ferris Wheel<\/a>,<\/strong> the Cathedral, the Alcazaba fortress and the Gibralfaro Castle all make for superb holiday snaps.<\/p>\n

If you walk to the end of Muelle Uno, you\u2019ll come to \u2018La Farola de Malaga\u2019<\/strong>, the city\u2019s landmark lighthouse which towers over the port entrance. If you\u2019ve got kids, they\u2019ll enjoy a ride on the merry-go-round installed at the foot of the lighthouse.<\/p>\n

A visit to see the Christmas lights in Malaga<\/strong> is compulsory for all who visit the Costa del Sol at this magical time of year. As we\u2019ve explained above, it\u2019s also a great opportunity to visit other emblematic parts of the city and take in the marvelous Christmas atmosphere this wonderful city radiates.<\/p>\n

You can either jump on the n\u00ba110 bus which takes you to the entrance of the port and the city centre or you can take the train which stop in the main Alameda, also in the city centre.
