So we thought we&#8217;d put together a list of refreshing summer drinks to help ward off the heat and keep cool.<\/p>\n<p>Many of these are alcoholic but it\u2019s easy to make them into non-alcoholic versions. You\u2019ll recognise a few of but we\u2019re sure there are some you\u2019ve never heard of and may even seem a little strange\u2026 we recommend you try them all; you&#8217;ll be pleasantly surprised.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who like to try out new drinks at home or would like to impress friends when you get home from your hols, we\u2019ve included a list of ingredients and instructions on how to prepare each of these delicious summer drinks. Practically all restaurants and beach bars will have it on their drinks menu. Usually served in a large jug for sharing, this refreshing drink is deceptively easy to drink so you have to be careful not to over-do it!<\/p>\n<p>If you fancy making it yourself at home to impress your friends next time you have a BBQ, here\u2019s a quick recipe to make you the \u2018King of Sangr\u00eda\u2019:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 litre of Red Wine (Doesn\u2019t have to be Rioja!)<\/li>\n<li>Half a litre of lemonade or soda water<\/li>\n<li>Fresh Fruit chopped up (peaches, apples, oranges, lemons, pears all work well)<\/li>\n<li>A cup of cognac<\/li>\n<li>4 tables spoons of white sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Preparation<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pour the red wine into a jar and add the chopped fruit. Dissolve the sugar in a glass of hot water and add to the wine and fruit and mix well. Add the glass of cognac and leave to settle for a couple of hours so that the all the delicious fruity flavours mix with the wine. When ready to serve add the lemonade or soda and some ice cubes\u2026 mix well and serve!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>#2: Kalimotxo<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_6498\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6498\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6498\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Kalimotxo.jpg\" alt=\"Kalimotxo\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Kalimotxo.jpg 780w, https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Kalimotxo-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Kalimotxo-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6498\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kalimotxo&#8230; Red wine and Coca Cola<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Don\u2019t be put off by the strange name\u2026 The Kalimotxo is a drink which originated in the Basque country but quickly became popular throughout Spain, especially amongst students and youngsters (Probably because it\u2019s cheap and easy to make). This refreshing drink mixes red wine and coke!!! We know, we know, sound awful but bare with us here. Just give it a try and we think you\u2019ll be pleasantly surprised.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Red wine<\/li>\n<li>Coca-Cola or any other cola drink<\/li>\n<li>Slice of orange or lemon<\/li>\n<li>Lots of ice!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>This one is easy\u2026 grab a glass and fill it with ice. It\u2019s so popular that many of the top soft drink brands actually sell ready made bottles of Tinto de Verano and many bars and restaurants actually have it on tap. But we prefer to make our own\u2026 it just tastes better \ud83d\ude42 &nbsp;It\u2019s another red wine based drink mixed with lemonade or lemon. Here are the ingredients you\u2019ll need:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Red wine<\/li>\n<li>Casera lemonade is the original mixer but Sprite of Fanta Lemon are also great options!<\/li>\n<li>Slice of lemon<\/li>\n<li>Lots of ice!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Fill a glass up with ice and pour in red wine to about a third of the glass. We managed to persuade the barman there to give us the ingredients but he won\u2019t reveal the exact measures so you\u2019ll have to experiment a little \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cava<\/li>\n<li>Martini Bianco<\/li>\n<li>Cointreau<\/li>\n<li>Strawberry Liqueur<\/li>\n<li>Lemonade (Sprite or similar)<\/li>\n<li>Orange Juice<\/li>\n<li>Chopped fruit (Strawberries, orange, apple and whatever takes your fancy)<\/li>\n<li>Ice cubes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t have the exact instructions but if you just put all the ingredients in a big jug, you probably can\u2019t go wrong \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>#5: Rebujito<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_6500\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6500\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Rebujito.jpg\" alt=\"Rebujito\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Rebujito.jpg 780w, https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Rebujito-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Rebujito-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6500\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rebujito&#8230; Fino wine and lemonade<\/p><\/div>\n<p>If you\u2019ve ever been to one of the local fairs here on the Costa del Sol, you\u2019ll have seen lots of people drinking a light coloured fizzy drink which is known as a \u2018Rebujito\u2019. It\u2019s a crisp and very refreshing drink made with dry sherry and lemonade (Sprite or similar). It\u2019s a fantastic and thirst quenching cure to the hot summer days.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dry Sherry or \u2018Fino\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Lemonade<\/li>\n<li>Lots of ice!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Just fill a tall glass with ice and pour about a third of Sherry\u2026 the rest is lemonade.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>#6: Granizado<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_6501\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6501\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6501\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Granizadas.jpg\" alt=\"Granizadas\" width=\"650\" height=\"579\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Granizadas.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Granizadas-300x267.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6501\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Granizado<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A very popular drink during the hot summer months and found in many ice cream shops and bars. Made in large machines which swirl the crushed slush ice and lemon mixture, you can also find it in other flavours such as cola and strawberry. Our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sltbar.com\">Salitos Bar<\/a> even has a popular version which is Sangria flavour!<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019d like to try and make your own version at home, here are the <em><strong>ingredients and instructions<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 glass of water<\/li>\n<li>1 glass of white sugar<\/li>\n<li>6 lemons<\/li>\n<li>3 or 4 glasses of iced w\u00e1ter<\/li>\n<li>Crushed ice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pour a glass of water in a pan and heat up. Just before it boils pour in the sugar and stir until it dissolves completely. Remove from heat and leave to cool.<\/p>\n<p>Squeeze the 6 lemons into a jar and then pour in the water and sugar mix; shake well. Add 3 or 4 glasses of cold water and crushed ice and mix it all together. You\u2019ll see many locals drinking this refreshing pick-me-up after a meal to keep those batteries charged! It\u2019s usually made with a strong black coffee but there are lighter and creamier versions available\u2026 At Salitos Bar we do a Frappe iced coffee drink which is delicious (see photo). It has coffee, vanilla, hazelnut, cinnamon and crushed ice (eat your heart our Starbucks!) For a little \u2018kick\u2019, you can also add a drop of Tia Maria or Baileys \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients for \u2018Caf\u00e9 con Hielo\u2019:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong Black Coffee<\/li>\n<li>Ice cubes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Put some ice cubes in a short glass or tumbler and pour in the shot of espresso coffee!<\/p>\n<p>So now you know what to order the next time you&#8217;re looking for something different to drink whilst on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\">holiday in Spain<\/a>.
