The impressive selection of museums coupled with the splendid weather enjoyed year-round make it a perfect choice for a cultural winter getaway.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the city\u2019s top museums offer unique temporary exhibitions to add to their already stunning permanent collections.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As it can often be complicated to find information about all these temporary exhibitions, we\u2019ve put together a list of the main ones taking place over the winter months at the start of 2018 (January, February and March).<\/p>\n<p>Please be aware that many of the exhibitions mentioned below end in January so you\u2019ll have to be quick if you\u2019d like to visit them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Juegos de Luz: farola y fotograf\u00eda\u2019 (Playing with light: lighthouse and photography)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>M\u00e1laga\u2019s lighthouse \u2013 also referred to as \u2018la Farola\u2019- is one of the city\u2019s most iconic landmarks. This beautiful exhibition portrays almost two centuries of existence thanks to the photographic archive of local photographer, Juan Antonio Fern\u00e1ndez Rivero. The exhibition commemorates dates from the start to the end of the lighthouse\u2019s construction (1816 and 1817).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dates:<\/em><\/strong> Until the 15<sup>th<\/sup> March 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Location:<\/em><\/strong> La T\u00e9rmica Cultural Centre<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018The Beatles vs. The Rolling Stones\u2019 Exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This photographic exhibition features images by British photographers Terry O\u2019Neill and Gered Mankowitz. O\u2019Neill was the first to take photos of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones at the start of their careers and the first to publish these images in the press.<\/p>\n<p>Gered Mankowitz is one of Rock &amp; Roll\u2019s most famous photographers and played a big part in creating the image associated with the Rolling Stones.<\/p>\n<p>During the exhibition, there will also be a daily screening of the video documentary \u2018Eight Days a Week\u2019, directed by Ron Howard and featuring the Beatle\u2019s early years up until their 1966 San Francisco performance.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dates:<\/em><\/strong> until the 18<sup>th<\/sup> March 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Location:<\/em><\/strong> La T\u00e9rmica Cultural Centre<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rub\u00e9n Guerro: Familias M\u00ednimas (rojo, amarillo y azul)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This exhibition explores pictorial space through ten paintings, concentrating on concepts such as the frame, the support or the edges. The work of Sevilla-born painter, Rub\u00e9n Guerrero, constructs impossible structures which trick the eye.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dates:<\/em><\/strong> Until 28<sup>th<\/sup> February 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Location:<\/em><\/strong> CAC M\u00e1laga<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blobterre<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Created by designer Matali Crasset, Blobterre is comprised of a multi-sensorial space for the artist\u2019s exploration, creation and imagination. It\u2019s a world in which you\u2019ll be able to hear and feel nature and its\u2019 species in continual evolution.<\/p>\n<p>This work of fiction is made up of \u2018Blobterres\u2019 which grow in cities and are made up of green areas which have reclaimed space from the asphalt to offer a \u2018breath of fresh air\u2019 in the middle of an urban space. In the centre of these Blobterres you\u2019ll find a Fl\u2019om; a child who is half man half flower and who explains interesting information about the world of plants.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dates:<\/em><\/strong> Until 27<sup>th<\/sup> May 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Location:<\/em><\/strong> Centre Pompidou (M\u00e1laga)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniel Buren Exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>French artist Daniel Buren is known for his powerful and easily-recognizable style: Three alternate lines with a specific width (8.7 cm) structure the different spaces. He is most famous for transforming the Pompidou\u2019s transparent cube into the multi-coloured attraction it is today.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dates:<\/em><\/strong> Until 14<sup>th<\/sup> January 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Location:<\/em><\/strong> Centre Pompidou (M\u00e1laga)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Somos plenamente libres. Las mujeres artistas y el surrealismo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The surrealist movement attracted many female artists due to its provocativeness. This fascinating exhibition features the works of Eileen Agar, Claude Cahun, Leonora Carrington, Valentine Hugo, Dora Maar and Lee Miller to name but a few.<\/p>\n<p>These artist\u2019s strong characters are reflected in more than 100 works of art including paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography and films brought together for this special occasion.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dates:<\/em><\/strong> Until 28<sup>th<\/sup> January 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Location:<\/em><\/strong> Picasso Museum<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Juan Gris, Mar\u00eda Blanchard and Cubism<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Juan Gris is one of cubism\u2019s key artists. In this exhibition located in the Carmen Thyssen Museum, you\u2019ll be able to relate his later work with other artists with which he shared a friendship and creative similarities, artists such as Mar\u00eda Blanchard, Jean Metzinger or Andr\u00e9 Lhote.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dates:<\/em><\/strong> Until 25<sup>th<\/sup> February 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Location:<\/em><\/strong> Carmen Thyssen Museum<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alex\u00e9i and Andreas Jawlensky: The adventure of colour<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll find the work of Alex\u00e9i Jawlensky exhibited in museums all around the world. A colleague and friend of Kandinsky, Paul Klee and other artists of the early 20<sup>th<\/sup> century, his work is recognizable for its use of colour and the sun.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dates:<\/em><\/strong> Until 4<sup>th<\/sup> February 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Location:<\/em><\/strong> The Russian Museum of St Petersburg Collection<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Posters of the Revolution\u2019 Exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This exhibition highlights one of the Russian Revolutions most extraordinary artistic phenomena using visual language consisting in the use of simple symbols to convey their message to the people.
