Easter Holidays & Spring Breaks
Spring is arguably the best time to visit the Costa del Sol. Bright blue skies, warm evenings and quieter streets and beaches are just a few of the reasons to visit Sunset Beach Club in the springtime. This time of year is ideal for enjoying the Spanish "al fresco" lifestyle to the full!
Easter activities programme
During the Easter school holidays we offer a fun-packed activity programme for all the family! This includes several live shows in the Moonlight Bar and daytime activities for kids, teenagers and adults. Please visit our online Events Calendar to see sample Easter programmes. (Note: if next Easter's programmes are not yet visible, you can get a good idea by looking at the programme from Easter dates of previous year).
Al fresco Lifestyle
In April/May the beach bars start to re-open after an extended Winter break, and the weather is perfect for relaxing in an informal beach restaurant or street café. Local delicacies include "boquerones fritos" (deep fried white anchovies), "calamares" (squid), "almejas" (clams, usually served with plenty of white wine and garlic sauce), "gambas pil-pil" (prawns in olive oil with garlic and chillies) and of course "paella". Cold beer, white wine or sangría offer the ideal accompaniment
Tikki Pool Bar opens in April
Sunset's poolside snack bar provides the perfect solution for families who want to have a few drinks or a quick lunch without moving too far from their sunbeds! Generally open from April to October, this is also an ideal spot to relax "al fresco" in the Spring or Autumn sunshine, or to have an informal gathering or Welcome Party with friends or family.
Luna Beach Club opens in May
At Sunset Beach Club, Luna Beach Club re-opens in May, and offers a wide menu of meals and snacks for all the family, including platters for sharing, salads, sandwiches and daily specials, all served in a fantastic beachside location. In the spring time, our Oasis Restaurant extends to the outside, where you can eat in the comfort of our partly shaded Polynesian style Terrace.
Salitos Bar opens in May
Generally open from May to October, Bar Salitos is one of the most popular chillout bars in Benalmadena. Located on the promenade directly in front of the hotel, here you can enjoy drinks and cocktails in a relaxing setting just metres from the Mediterranean Sea. This is a great place to stop for a drink during a stroll along by the Mediterranean, or for a pre-dinner drink on your way to Luna Beach Club.
If you are visiting during Easter, you have to visit the famous "Semana Santa" (Easter) religious processions. You'll experience a unique celebration, where thousands of Spanish people take to the streets, many barefoot and dressed as Nazarenes. Our leisure desk can inform you about the best processions, how to get there and what time is best to go.
Cruces de Mayo
May also bears witness to one of Andalucia's prettiest religious customs, with the "Cruces de Mayo" (May crosses) tradition. On the 1st of May, many houses display beautiful homemade crosses made of fresh flowers. The smell is glorious! May Crosses can be seen in most towns in Andalucia, including Benalmadena, Malaga, Mijas & Torremolinos. Ask at our Leisure Desk for information.
Golf on Costa del Sol
Spring is also a popular time for golfers, who can combine their favourite sport with some relaxation by the pool, and even go home with a suntan! Indeed the high season for golf is between October to May, when clear blue skies prevail, and temperatures generally settle around 19ºC.
