Starfish Ferry Benalmadena to Fuengirola

The ‘Starfish’ heading towards Fuengirola

Those of you who have stayed at Sunset Beach Club will have seen it pass by the hotel several times a day. We’re talking about ‘Starfish’, the popular ferry boat which takes passengers from Benalmadena Marina to Fuengirola (and back).

Many of our guests have taken this trip and highly recommend it. Why? Well here are just a few reasons:

1)      The Views: Your trip aboard ‘Starfish’ will allow you enjoy spectacular views of the whole coast line. Camera in hand, you’ll grab some fabulous shots of local landmarks and attractions. Many of our guests take the opportunity to capture a shot of the hotel as a souvenir… as you can see in the photo below.

2)      A visit to Fuengirola: Our neighbouring town enjoys 8km of promenade and beaches, making it ideal for a leisurely stroll. There are some fantastic ‘chiringuitos’ along the beach front where you’ll be able to stop off and feast on the freshest seafood… Calamares anyone?

Fuengirola also happens to be a shoppers paradise with a wide variety of boutiques, stores and shopping centres where you’ll find all your favourite items. If you chose to visit on Tuesday, Saturday or Sunday, you can visit the large and busy street markets filled with local products and plenty of souvenirs for the ideal holiday gift.

Whilst you’re in Fuengirola, you might want to visits its famous Bioparc Zoo. Located in the heart of the town, it really makes for a wonderful family outing.

3)      You might see dolphins! We say ‘might’ because it’s a mere possibility; however, there are pods of dolphins in the waters off Benalmádena (our guests sometimes see them playing just off the rocks in front of the hotel) and during the journey to Fuengirola, you might well come across these fun creatures 🙂

If you’ve been thinking about visiting Fuengirola, forget about taking the bus and travel in style aboard ‘Starfish’. The trip takes approximately 45 minutes and the ferry timetable gives the option of travelling at various times throughout the day (See below).
