Why visit Benalmadena in September (Plus Our List of Things to Do & Places to See)

Things to do in Benalmadena in September

Visiting Benalmadena during the busy summer months – July & August – can be stressful. Too many people, too much traffic, too many queues, it’s too hot… stress!

However, if you’re willing to hold off on your holiday plans until September, the panorama changes… drastically!

September is probably one of the best times of year to visit Benalmadena. Although it’s still busy, kids are back at school and Spanish travellers (who usually holiday in August) are back at work. You’ll also find that flights and accommodation are considerably cheaper and the weather is still fantastic; lots of sunshine but not as stiflingly hot as July and August. Continue Reading →

The Essential Guide to the Caminito del Rey (The World’s Scariest Walkway)

Caminito del Rey MalagaIt’s been described as the world’s scariest – and until recently –  most dangerous walkway in the world and it’s reopening to the public on the 28th March 2015. We are, of course, talking about the Caminito del Rey (King’s Walkway) situated in the Gaitanes  Gorge, about 1 hour  north of Benalmádena.

This breathtaking walkway which, in certain areas, towers 100 metres above the river bed, has been closed to the public since 2001. The 100 year old path was in a precarious condition and local authorities decided to close it after a series of fatal accidents. Although officially closed, it’s remained a favourite attraction for thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies looking for the ultimate experience (see video below for proof!). Continue Reading →
