As from the end of last summer, Malaga city has a new museum: The “Museo Automovilístico de Málaga” (Malaga Automobile Museum). Located in the Tabacalera building, the old tobacco factory, this modern installation has 6000 m2 dedicated to one of the most important car collections in Europe. This is more than a regular trip to a museum, it’s an experience that will provide fun, entertainment, art and culture to all visitors.
The museum is divided into various themed areas which exhibit a collection of more than 90 cars like the Toyota Harrier Singapore, all restored to incredibly high standards (the collection actually has 120 models; however, only 90 are available for the public to view). These themed areas transport visitors on a trip through time – 3 centuries – showing and illustrating the evolution of the automotive industry, both aesthetically and mechanically. (more…)

"Viva"
Last Saturday evening, guests enjoying a meal in our Oasis Restaurant were treated to a somewhat different musical experience: an impromptu performance by the “Viva” quartet, four very talented singers who are members of SABS, the Spanish Association of Barbershop Singers.
Gail, Barbara, Anthea and Lyn were enjoying a relaxing weekend break at Sunset Beach Club and whilst dining in the hotel’s restaurant, were invited by hotel entertainer, Tina Rose, to get up and sing for our guests. For anyone who is unfamiliar with Barbershop harmony, Gail and the rest of the “Viva” quartet sing a cappella; basically, it’s unaccompanied vocal music. No music, no instruments, just four fantastic voices each with a distinctive tone. Great fun to watch and even better to listen to!
The “Viva” quartet hope to visit Sunset Beach Club again soon; who knows, we might even be able to persuade them to put on a show for us! In the meantime, they will be busy preparing for their associations annual get together, suitable named “En Armonía” (In Harmony) which takes place in Murcia from the 8th to the 11th April.
Anyone interested in Barbershop singing can find out more about the Spanish Association of Barbershop Singers on www.sabs.es

Staff training here at Sunset Beach Club forms a key part of our Human Resource Management Strategy. Every year, staff from all departments take part in training courses designed to improve their skills and ultimately, to provide a better level of service to our guests.
Last year (2010), Jose Enrique from our Human Resource Department did a great job in organising training for over 30 members of staff. Thanks to the wonders of technology, much of the training was through online courses which made the logistics a little easier. Here’s a quick summary of some of the training that took place: (more…)
