Golf enthusiasts in and around Glasgow are in for a treat this weekend…From the 8th to 10th April, the city hosts the Scottish Golf Show.
Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to try out the latest equipment from all the big brands – any excuse to try and get an extra 30 yards on that drive! – practice their short game and putting on the dedicated practice areas and even get a few tips from the Pro’s who will be offering free golf lessons. Make sure you don’t miss the spectacular trick shots exhibition which takes place daily; it’s quite amazing what these guys are able to do with a golf ball!
There will be over 100 stands at the show; however, if you are planning to attend, make sure you look out for the Sunset Beach Club stand! Our very own Annemie, form our Golf Desk will be manning our stand and providing information about Sunset Beach Club and our great value golf packages.
If you’re planning on booking a golf holiday, make sure you stop by and talk to Annemie as she has some great offers for anyone booking at the show!
The show will be held at the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre and will be open to the public from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Champions of the Tigers League!!!
We recently welcomed the Benalmadena Bowls Club to Sunset Beach Club. The recently crowned Tiger’s League champions decided to celebrate their victory in style with 72 members of the club enjoying a fun evening which included a prize giving dinner and live music.
The Club decided on a more intimate and private evening and chose our “Sala Malaga” function room with its spectacular sea views, private bar and dance floor. Our Head Chef prepared a delicious 3 course menu for the occasion and the Rioja was flowing as the Champions celebrated their title!
After the meal, the bowlers headed down to our Moonlight Bar for the Ricky Lavazza Show; a great way to round off a fun evening.
“Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!!! It was stunning, small details made it very special. Every one thought it was a lovely venue and enjoyed themselves very much” Amber Dineen, Benalmadena Bowls Club
Benalmadena Bowls Club has been in operation since 2005. Located in the hills behind Benalmadena, the club’s facilities are some of the best on the coast; with an all-weather, eight rink, artificial green and amazing panoramic views of the coast, it’s a bowler’s paradise.
As from later on this year, Sunset Beach Club will be offering Bowling Holiday Packages (From €252 pp for 7 nights) which will include use of the fantastic facilities at the Benalmadena Bowls Club. The Spanish Airport strikes planned for the easter and summer holiday periods has been called off; great news for the Spanish tourism industry and for the thousands of holiday makers who had already booked to travel to Spain during this period.
On Thursday 24th March 2011, the airport workers unions held a referendum and voted to call off the strikes which had threatened to cause havoc in airports throughout the country.
The strikes were originally called by the unions due to their concerns about the part-privatisation of Aena, the national airport operator. Airport workers had feared that this privatisation would result in the consequent loss of jobs and deteriorated working conditions.
After weeks of negotiations, on the 16th March 2011, Aena and the Unions reached a pre-agreement in which the unions received guarantees over job security and conditions; Thursdays referendum ratified this agreement as workers voted to call off the planned industrial action (approximately 70% voted to call off the strikes).
A Union spokesman (from the CCOO union) stated the following:
“The ratification of this deal means the cancellation of the call for 22 days of strikes planned on different days between April and August.”
There is no doubt that this is fantastic news for the Spanish tourism industry; we can now focus our attention on profiting from the increase in tourists who have chosen Spain as an alternative to troubled destinations such as Tunisia and Egypt.
