If you enjoy a good and healthy walk when you visit Benalmadena on holiday, we’ve got some great little walking routes which you must try; no need to worry about your fitness levels as there is something for everyone!

Benalmadena is actually a member of the Spanish Healthy Cities Network (Red Española de Ciudades Saludables) and a couple of years ago the town hall decided to set up a 23 km walking route connecting the 3 main areas of the town, Benalmadena Costa, Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmadena Pueblo (town). For just over a month now, our neighbouring town, Fuengirola, has been enjoying a new attraction: The ‘City tour’ Tourist Train.

This new tourist train service will allow visitors to easily make their way around the town’s most emblematic tourist attractions and landmarks including the Roman Ruins, the main sea front promenade, the fabulous beaches and Bioparc (Our favourite :-)). One of the highlights of this new service is its’ ‘hop-on hop-off’ system which allows the user to jump on and off as often as they like throughout the day.  (more…)

Many of our guests are avid football fans and often enquire about Malaga FC’s home games. Going to one of Malaga’s home games is a great afternoon out and the atmosphere at the La Rosaleda stadium is absolutely amazing.

The club’s amazing run of form in the Spanish league and their recent (last night!) qualification for the knock out stages of the Champions League means that their popularity is set to soar to new heights!

So we’ve decided to put together a list of Malaga FC’s home games for this season in case you fancy heading down to watch a live game whilst you are here on holiday. The big games against Real Madrid and Barcelona will be played over the Christmas period (22nd December and 13th January) but tickets are selling fast so if you plan on going we’d recommend you buy your tickets ASAP! One of the activities we tend to recommend to guests who stay with us is a guided tour of Benalmadena on the sightseeing tourist bus. This is undoubtedly the best way to see all the great attractions Benalmadena has to offer its visitors.

Last week the local council announced that it had introduced a new route to the tourist bus, one that includes a visit to Benalmadena Town (the one up in the mountains) and all its cultural treats. This new itinerary includes the impressive Buddhist Temple, the Butterfly Park, the ‘Felipe Orlando’ Pre-columbine museum and the uniqueness of a typical andalusian village with its white buildings and narrow cobbled streets. If you are ever on the Costa del Sol for a holiday during the month of September, we highly recommend you take a drive up to Guaro during their Luna Mora Festival, a unique event featuring the best of andalusian culture.

Places to See: La Concepcion Botanical Gardens in Málaga

La Concepcion Botanical GardensIf you’re a nature lover and enjoy a little peace and tranquillity (at least once in a while) during your holidays, we highly recommend you visit the ‘La Concepcion’ Botanical Gardens in Malaga.

Located just north of the city centre, these vast and spectacular gardens are now part of the ‘Ciudad de Malaga’ (Malaga City) Municipal Botanical Trust.

A walk through its colourful gardens will allow you to enjoy an exquisite collection of plants and flora from all over the world.  (more…)
