According to Einstein, “If a bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four more years of live left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”
Whilst this statement may not be entirely true, studies show that millions of human beings would not survive and thousands of plant species would die out without them; there is no doubt that these fascinating creatures play a vital role in nature.
If you’d like to learn more about these vital little creatures, we highly recommend a visit to the Honey Museum located in Colmenar, a small town in the Axarquia area in the Hills of Malaga. (more…)

Bioparc Zoo in Fuengirola is one of our favourite family attractions on the Costa del Sol and, as of last Friday, it’s going to be even better! Why? Because they have opened the spectacular new habitat designed to emulate the Indo-Pacific region.
This new exhibit will take visitors on a voyage from Asia to the Americas via the islands of the South Pacific. Featuring species from Java, Borneo, Bali, the Philippines, New Guinea and the Galapagos Islands, perhaps the most impressive new inhabitant of the Park is the Komodo Dragon – the largest one in the world! Simba the lion cub
A few weeks ago I spotted an interesting photo on a friend’s Facebook page; she was petting a lion cub!!! Turns out the picture was taken at ‘Zoo de Castellar’ a very special place which serves as a rescue centre for all sorts of animals.
Started as a private animal sanctuary way back in 1998, it actually opened to the public in 2002; this has to be one of the Coast’s best kept secrets!
Of course, with two young children, we had to go and see what all the fuss was about. After a quick check on Google Maps, we prepared a pack lunch and set off, for what turned out to be, an amazing family day out. (more…)

Málaga’s impressive Automobile Museum is one of our recommended places to visit this Christmas. With a special Christmas programme of events aimed at all the family, visitors will be able to enjoy the history of the automobile together with fashion in a unique and unforgettable experience.
The star of this year’s programme is the presentation of the new collection: Trilogy. Once again, the museum will delight us with its unique take on the evolution of the automobile industry and fashion: An impressive exhibition of models combining society, movies and fashion. Marilyn Monroe in Givenchy, Ava Gardner in Pierre Cardin, Paloma Picasso with Yves Saint Laurent are just some of the amazing displays visitors will be able to see. (more…)

The town of Mijas is probably one of the most popular tourist attractions on the Costa del Sol with thousands of weekly visitors. As from last Saturday, there’s another reason to add this charming town to your list of places to visit: The opening of the new Contemporary Art Centre (CACMijas: Centro de Arte Contemporáneo).
This new art gallery opened to the public with an impressive exhibition made up of 86 works from some of Spain’s greatest artists including, Picasso, Dalí and Miró. This wonderful collection actually goes by the name of “Picasso, amigos y contemporaneous” (Picasso, friends and contemporaries) and is made up of ceramics (43 pieces from Picasso himself and one of the most important collections in the world), lithographs and oil paintings. Monet's 'Marea Baja' in Varengeville
This Autumn, Malaga will once again become a haven for art lovers and tourists looking for an enriching cultural experience. Three of the city’s most popular museums have interesting exhibitions planned over the next few months.
Perhaps the most exciting of these exhibitions takes place at Malaga’s Thyssen Museum. Over 50 works will focus on landscapes around Europe, all hand-chosen by owner Baroness Thyssen.
