The famous Valderrama Golf Club in Sotogrande will host the 4th edition of the Andalucia Valderrama Masters this weekend (18th to 21st October 2018). For the second year running the tournament returns to the club famous for hosting the 1997 Ryder Cup.
As was the case last year, this edition of the Valderrama Masters will benefit charities supported by the Sergio García Foundation which hosts the tournament.
Valderrama will undoubtedly be the attraction of the week as fans flock to the famous golf course to catch a glimpse of their favourite golfers. Last year, the event welcomed 41,494 spectators and organisers will be hoping to improve on this figure this year.
As this is one of the last events of the European tour, some of the best golfers on the tour will battle it out for the 2 million Euros in prize money; the winner alone will take home 333,330 Euros! Not bad for a weekends work!
Following his heroics at the Ryder Cup, Sergio García is back to defend the Andalucia Valderrama Masters title he won last year. Europe’s Ryder Cup captain, Thomas Björn will be reunited with the all-time leading Ryder Cup points scorer when he too takes part in this week’s event. He’s also bringing the Ryder Cup with him so fans will have a great opportunity to get up close to the famous trophy which will be at Valderrama all weekend.
Björn will be joined by his Ryder Cup vice-captains, Padraig Harrington, Lee Westwood and Robert Karlsson who will also be taking part in an amazing weekend of golf here on the Costa del Sol.
Other names who will be playing in the event include the following top European Tour players: Robert Rock, Edoardo Molinari, Lee Slatery, David Howell, Bradley Dredge, Raphael Jacquelin, Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston and many more!
As usual, we can expect a fantastic weekend of golf on Valderrama’s immaculate fairways and challenging greens, surrounded by the treacherous cork trees which the course is famous for.
For anyone interested in attending the event, tickets are available online (www.andaluciavalderramamasters.com/en/) or can be purchased at the entrance. Pricing is as follows:
Thursday & Friday – €25 per day
Saturday & Sunday – €35 per day
