Fuengirola’s River Park project was designed to create a tourist reference and to make use of this urban stretch of river so that citizens and visitors can enjoy the ample green areas, sports facilities, and leisure space.

The budget for the first part of the project – which stretches 520 metres inland from the river mouth – was €1.2 million. The second phase will include a furthe 330 metre stretch upriver making the total length of the river park 850 metres.

Once all the work has been completed, Fuengirola will boast a wonderful area which will allow for the practice of numerous water sports, including rowing and kayaking. The specially designed leisure areas will also include paths for those leisurely strolls, sports areas with outdoor gym equipment, bowls areas, basketball courts, table tennis tables, rest areas and a dedicated bicycle lane.

Visitors will be able to access the river park through 4 separate entrances, two on each side of the river. The first entrance is located near the Armada Bridge (at the river mouth) and the second between the main road and the Miramar Bridge.
