Muelle Uno: Málaga’s Fantastic New Waterfront Complex

Sunset at Muelle Uno in Malaga

An amazing Sunset at Muelle Uno in Malaga

A visit to Málaga’s city centre is a ‘must do’ for anyone visiting the Costa del Sol for a holiday. You’ll want to do the whole cultural tour of the city taking in its famous museums and iconic landmarks such as the Cathedral or the Alcazaba; however, there’s a new attraction in town and it’s well worth a visit: Muelle Uno (Pier One).

This new (relatively) waterfront shopping centre is probably one of my favourite stops when I wonder in to Málaga city centre. With spectacular modern architecture and a fantastic selection of shops and restaurants, Muelle Uno provides the perfect setting for a family outing.

Málaga’s newest attraction is ideally split into 3 different areas: Services and accessories, fashion and restaurants. Another great advantage is that the complex offers a large underground parking area which means you won’t have to tackle the Málaga traffic for too long 🙂 (more…)

Jump on the 120 Bus for a Value-for-Money Day Out!

Benalmadena Bus route nº120

Reading through our latest reviews on Tripadvisor, I came across a very complementary comment by a guest who recently stayed with us at Sunset Beach Club.

Apart from his very kind words praising our facilities and friendly staff (thank you!), this guest also reminded me of our hotel’s fantastic location as a base to explore other areas and towns on the Costa del Sol. In particular, he made reference to the bus stop just outside the hotel and the fantastic nº120 bus! Yes, we have taxis outside the hotel, but the beauty the 120 bus is that it only costs €1.50 per trip 🙂 (more…)

Learn How to Make a Paella – Sunset Style!

Every week, our Entertainment Team carry out cooking lessons for guests who are interested in learning how to make traditional spanish dishes like paella or tortilla. This week I decided to film their cooking skills; it was time to make a Paella!

The actual lessons take place in a make shift kitchen set up by the pool area and as you can see in the video, many of the guests stop by and watch; we are not sure whether the free glasses of wine and chance to taste the finished product have anything to do with this!

I noticed no-one took notes(understandable seeing as they are only in swimwear ;-)) so I decided to make the video into a step by step guide of how to make the paella. If you decide to give it a try and make your own, let us know how you get on! Even better, post a photo of your paella on our Facebook page!

Fun on the Cards this Week: it’s “Feria” Time!

feriaIf you are lucky enough to be on holiday on the Costa del Sol this week, then you are in for a real treat! This week we have two “Ferias” (local festivities): one in Benalmadena Pueblo and the other in Málaga.

Have you ever had the chance to experience the magic of a local “feria”? If not, you can’t miss out this time! It’s the perfect opportunity to experience some traditional Spanish culture as well as have a blast of a time!

For a “full on” first time Feria experience, I recommend you join the festivities in Málaga; it’s regarded as one of the best in Andalucia – second only to the famous Seville Fair in April – and you are guaranteed a great day out. Don’t be fooled by the photo; you will get a chance to jump on all the rides at the Fun fair which takes place in the evening but the real Feria atmosphere is lived during the daytime in the centre of the city. Bars, music, flamenco dancers, beautiful “señoritas” and “señoritos” dressed in traditional costumes, great food and drink……just a taste of what you can expect!

If you are feeling really adventurous – once you’ve made your way through the streets of the old town and experienced the true essence of the Feria – you can head for Málaga’s famous Bullring and enjoy a true taste of the Spanish fiesta by watching a Bull fight; it wont be any old bull fight, as the Malaga Fair attracts some of the best fighters in Spain!
