Make a note of the date in your diary: Saturday the 12th March at 8pm at Sunset Beach Club’s Moonlight Rooms. This is the date chosen for our “Gala Carnaval”, an amazing evening of gourmet food, fine wines and live music; the best part is that all proceeds from the gala will be donated to the Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice in Benalmadena.
Every year, Sunset Beach Club makes a donation to this very important charity; however, this year, we’ve decided to try something a little different in an attempt to raise more funds for Cudeca. The “Gala Carnaval” will give us the perfect opportunity to do just that; tickets to the event will go on sale in the next few days and all proceeds will go to Cudeca.
We’ve got a real treat planned for all those who show their support for Cudeca and buy tickets to the event. Our Head Chef, Paul Tugwell, and his team have prepared an incredible 6 course gourmet meal (See Menu below) which will be accompanied by a fine selection of wines , specially selected by wine expert Charlotte Rodriguez, from Cervinco Wines.
Gala guests will also be treated to an enviable line up of music and entertainment with the Marbella Big band and the King of Swing, Ricky Lavazza, both performing live on stage; not to be missed!
One of the highlights of the evening will be the Art Auction: A number of well known artists on the Coast have been kind enough to donate samples of their work to be auctioned on the evening. This will be a fantastic opportunity to raise extra funds for the Cudeca hospice.
Tickets to the “Gala Carnaval” are priced at €50 per person and can be purchased at Sunset Beach Club’s Leisure Desk or by calling 952 579 400.
Places are limited so make sure you book soon to avoid disappointment!
Last Wednesday evening, all the staff here at Sunset enjoyed a fun packed Christmas Party held in our Moonlight Theatre.
This year we all had to dress up in fancy dress! It was great to see the effort and imagination that some members of staff put in to their costumes. Some of the group efforts produced great laughs (just look at the photos of the Maintenance team dressed up as babies and the supermarket staff’s Flinstones tribute!). It’s hard to point out a best fancy dress as there were loads of great candidates.
The food was fantastic! We were treated to an amazing buffet prepared by our Head Chef, Paul Tugwell, and his great team; prawns, selection of meats, salads, ham, cheeses, wonderful desserts….. makes my mouth water just thinking about it!
As is tradition here at Sunset, the hotel management team presented awards to key members of staff who have been working at the hotel for 10, 15 and even 20 years! The following staff members received beautiful Waterford Crystal gifts as recognition of their dedication and years of work: Read More→
Last Saturday evening, our Moonlight Bar here at Sunset Beach Club was the venue for some fantastic live blues music organised and produced by Active Sound Productions.
Those who made it down to the hotel for the concert were treated to an evening of great live music, albeit by two very different acts; Steve Payne and the Johan Wahlstrom Band.
First up on stage was singer and composer, Steve Payne, regarded by many as one the UK’s finest guitarists (and he didn’t disappoint!). With only his guitar and accompanied by Argentine Saxophonist, Capi Breccia, Steve delighted the crowd with his unique style of guitar and distinct voice. The video below shows clips of Steve Payne’s performance. Read More→
We had a full house for the “Back to the 40′s” Show at the Moonlight on Monday evening! Hundreds of people enjoyed a great evening of singing and dancing and judging by the applause, the night was a great success.
Here’s a few photos I took throughout the show as well as a short video with various clips.(please excuse the video editing )
Active Sound Productions, who specialise in the organisation of musical events on the Costa del Sol, will present a night of the very best Blues music at Sunset Beach Club’s Moonlight Cabaret Bar on Saturday the 2nd October.
With performances from Steve Payne(UK) and the Johan Wahlstrom Band(Sweden), the evening promises some of the best of the Blues.
A little about the musicians….
Steve Payne is a composer, singer and producer who has been described as “one of the UK’s finest guitarists”. Calm but passionate, with a distinct melodic voice and unique way of playing the guitar Steve draws energy from the crowd creating a vibrant atmosphere anywhere he performs.
The Johan Wahlstrom Band is made up by some of the members of famous Swedish group “Stockholm Stoner” and prestigious local musicians such as Jazz singer Elena Salguero and pianist Gabriel Zenni. Half of the group’s repertoire is written by Johan Wahlstrom himself and the others are versions of classic tracks.
The show starts at 10:00pm and tickets are available at the El Corte Inglés stores. (A bargain at €10)
For more information about the event, please contact Miguel Corchón at Active Sound Productions on 696 538 530.
Our on-site entertainment team have been working hard for weeks preparing their new show; A tribute to Grease. Last week was the premiere and from what we’ve heard the Rocio and her team have done a great job; the show was packed! If you missed the show last week, don’t panic; the show will be on every Friday evening over the summer at our Moonlight Bar here at Sunset Beach Club. Join Danny, Sandy and the rest of the T-Birds and Pink Ladies for an evening of great music and dancing! The show starts at 10:30 pm and entrance is free. Just make sure you get there early so you get a good seat!
One hundred and sixteen minutes; that’s what it took the Spanish team break the solid Dutch defence last night! It wasn’t the most beautiful of football matches but it was definitely intense. The boys in red made us suffer – a little too long for my liking – but Iniesta’s goal 4 minutes away from the dreaded penalty shootout means that Spain win the world cup for the first time in history and complete a well deserved double after winning the European Championship 2 years ago.
The whole of Spain was rocking last night after the final whistle. All you could hear were the screams of jubilant fans, fireworks, car horns and even some attempts and blowing the, now world famous, vuvuzela’s! As we have been doing throughout the whole competition, we showed the game on the 3 metre screen at the Moonlight Bar; hundreds of guests gathered to watch the game and you can image what the atmosphere was like!
