Last week, 40 golfers from the Dublin Gas Golf Society stayed with us at Sunset. It was a short break for the lads (3 Nights), however, they managed to squeeze in 3 rounds of golf at our sister Resort of La Cala, and a little night life too!!!(The photo was taken on the Friday morning, just before boarding the bus that would take them to the golf course – as you may notice there aren’t quite 40 in the photo, I guess they had a bit of a late night!).

Costa del Soul - The best Soul Music at Sunset Beach Club
At the end of October, we welcome back, for the 2nd year running, Gold Soul – a well established UK Soul event promoter – and their week long “Costa del Soul” event.
Sunset Beach Club will become a haven for Soul music enthusiasts who will enjoy a week of the best soul tunes and, of course, the hotel’s fantastic facilities.
Some of the UK’s best DJ’s will fly in for the event and will delight fans with their mix of Northern Soul, Modern Anthems, Motown and 5 decades of great soul music. The fun begins each day with some light sessions by the pool (14:00 to 16:00) Sun, sea, sangria and some great soul! From 18:00 to 21:00 you can enjoy some more light sessions in the Panorama Bar, making the most of happy our and the amazing views.
However, the real party begins at 21:00 hrs in the Moonlight Bar! Get ready for 7 nights of dancing to the best soul music as the DJ’s take to the stage! (Nige Brown, Chris King, John Poole, Dave Evison and Rob Thomas are just some of the DJ’s flying in).
This week long event is hosted by Kev Roberts – one of the main forces in Northern Soul and Retro Pop music – and we expect to accommodate many fans flying down from the UK specially for the event. Although the weather wasn’t as good as we would have wished for, yesterday’s wedding went very well and was enjoyed by all; someone certainly must have enjoyed themselves as we found a very nice pair of shoes next to Reception this morning! (See photo below) Anyone know who they belong to?

The shoes somehow made their way to the bay window area next to Reception and have remained there all day. Now before anyone has a go at the housekeeping team for not removing them, we actually decided to leave them there and see if the owner decided to retrieve them, but nothing yet….. probably a little embarrassed! 😉
It really is our very own Cinderella story as yesterday’s wedding even had a horse and carriage to take the bride and groom to the church. Not sure if they turned in to a pumpkin and mice at the end of the night but those shoes are definitely still looking for an owner!
At the recent Wedding & Honeymoon Show at the RDS Exhibition Centre in Dublin, we held a competition to win a Romantic Winter Break for two people here at Sunset Beach Club.
The competition proved very popular with over 350 people entering the prize draw which was held here at the hotel on the 10th September.
The lucky winners are Natasha Cray and Gary Thornton!

Active Sound Productions, who specialise in the organisation of musical events on the Costa del Sol, will present a night of the very best Blues music at Sunset Beach Club’s Moonlight Cabaret Bar on Saturday the 2nd October.
With performances from Steve Payne(UK) and the Johan Wahlstrom Band(Sweden), the evening promises some of the best of the Blues.
A little about the musicians….
Steve Payne is a composer, singer and producer who has been described as “one of the UK’s finest guitarists”. Calm but passionate, with a distinct melodic voice and unique way of playing the guitar Steve draws energy from the crowd creating a vibrant atmosphere anywhere he performs.
The Johan Wahlstrom Band is made up by some of the members of famous Swedish group “Stockholm Stoner” and prestigious local musicians such as Jazz singer Elena Salguero and pianist Gabriel Zenni. Half of the group’s repertoire is written by Johan Wahlstrom himself and the others are versions of classic tracks.
The show starts at 10:00pm and tickets are available at the El Corte Inglés stores. (A bargain at €10) 🙂

I’m always on the lookout for great tips and tricks related to travel and holidays. One of the biggest nightmares we suffer when we have to get on an plane is the ritual of packing!
Whether for business or pleasure, strict – and over the top – policies by airlines around the world mean that packing your bags efficiently has become synonimous with saving money! Every extra piece of luggage and every extra Kilogram costs a fortune (Up to 15 Euros per Kilo!!!).
Well, I might just have the solution to all your packing problems…. I found this video online whilst reading the Huffington Post Travel Blog (a great read if you are interested in travel) and just had to embed the video on our Blog so that our guests could view it.
This guy is the “master” of packing! I know a couple of colleagues in our commercial department who will happily use some of the tips oin the video for when they next travel abroad for an exhibition!
Next Monday the 20th September, guests and visitors can enjoy an evening of classic songs and dancing from the 1940’s in our Cabaret Moonlight Bar.
