With just a couple of weeks to go until the start of its famous ‘Semana Santa’ (Holy Week) – From 24th March to 31st March 2024 – the city of Malaga is gearing itself up to welcome thousands of visitors who every year line its streets to watch the breathtaking processions.
It’s a truly unique spectacle that all visitors to the Costa del Sol should experience at least once. The sight of the gigantic thrones (known as Tronos) being carried by over 200 men and the colourful costumes worn by members of the brotherhoods; the smell of fresh flowers and burning incense; the sound of music and crowds cheering and singing… truly memorable! If you’re planning a holiday to the Costa del Sol for Easter this year (Holy week is from the 24th March until the 31st March), we highly recommend you take – at least – a day to explore the wonders of this amazing festivity; you won’t regret it.
The ‘Semana Santa de Málaga’ (Malaga Holy Week) is famous for its impressive processions in which the ‘cofradías’ (brotherhoods) proudly parade their ‘Tronos’ (Thrones) through the streets of the city as the expectant crowds cheer, sing and applaud to the sound of the unmistakable music played by the marching bands. The popular Spanish flamenco singer will be performing in the Panorama bar on Friday from 9pm onwards and then on Saturday from 9.30pm in our Moonlight Cabaret Theatre. It’s Semana Santa! This week is holy week all over the world, but not many other countries celebrate with such style as Spain. Rather than Good friday and bank holiday Monday, here the festive days are Thursday and Friday where you see an incredible cultural display with all main cities hosting enormous parades that last the entire weekend. Malaga, Sevilla and Granada are all very popular over the Easter period, here in Malaga extra schedules of public transport will be added and the town will be overwhelmed once again with the hustle and bustle of visitors from all over Europe.

What lovely wedding favours! Sarah & Colm, today’s bride and groom at Sunset Beach Club are celebrating at an eggstra special time of year! The will be having a beachfront blessing followed by drinks reception and then evening meal in our Sala Malaga banquet room.
