On the 6th and 7th September – the picturesque white village of Guaro celebrates the 26th edition of its famous ‘Luna Mora’ Festival.
As has been the case since before the pandemic, festivities have been reduced to two days (It’s used to be four). However, they’ve still managed to put together an impressive programme of events with activities and entertainment for all the family.
Throughout the weekend, the village becomes a meeting point for traditional Andalusí music and culture. The streets come alive in the evenings with the stunning illumination of 20,000 candles strategically positioned to create a unique and magical ambience. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the traditional Arab artisan market, workshops (Henna and belly dancing), street performers, storytelling and mouth-watering gastronomy.

Candles lighting the streets of Guaro
The white village of Guaro is set to become the focal point of Andalusi music and culture over the next two weekends (5th & 6th September and 12th & 13th September) with the celebration of the 18th edition if its ‘Luna Mora’ Festival.
Once again, the streets of Guaro will glow to the light of 25,000 candles distributed throughout the town creating a mysterious and magical ambience. One of the festivals main attractions is the Arab Market which will open daily on the streets if the town centre. The market stalls will be filled with hand made products such as gifts, leather goods and delicious food! (more…)

This weekend sees the start of the acclaimed Luna Mora Festival in the beautiful white village of Guaro. This unique event is your opportunity to witness and experience the magic of ‘Andalusi’ music and culture.
The Festival takes place on the 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th of September 2013 and is sure to be a great success with visitors coming from all over Spain to experience its rich blend of true Andalusian culture and tradition.

For those of you who haven’t visited the Luna Mora Festival in Guaro, we thought we’d post a few photos of this fantastic event held every September in this beautiful Andalusian village.
If you are ever on the Costa del Sol for a holiday during the month of September, we highly recommend you take a drive up to Guaro during their Luna Mora Festival, a unique event featuring the best of andalusian culture.

25.000 candles light up the town...
Once again, the white village of Guaro is ready to welcome visitors from all over the Costa del Sol (and the rest of Spain) for its spectacular Luna Mora Festival. Showcasing the diversity of Andalusian music and culture, this unique festival takes place on the 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th of September and promises visitors an impressive programme of events including live music, dance, street performers and a large selection of workshops to participate in.
The previous edition of the Festival attracted more than 50,000 visitors, a figure which will undoubtedly continue to grow as word spreads of this beautiful event which is known for the 25.000 candles which light up its streets come nightfall.

Candles light up the town
The Luna Mora Festival, a yearly event which is held in the quaint Málaga village of Guaro, starts next Friday the 9th September. For two weekends running, visitors to the town will be treated to the best of andalusí culture: Music, dance, workshops, street performers, a Moorish market and 20,000 candles which light up the town are just some of the treats you can expect when you visit this popular festival.
The towns main auditorium will liven up the Guaro evenings with a selection of concerts by renown Spanish singers: Miguel Poveda, Vanesa Martín (accompanied by the Málaga symphonic orchestra), Mónica Naranjo and local sensation, Pablo Alborán will all be delighting the crowds with their music.
