The Soul Music Event of the Year: Costa del Soul 2012

The Soul event of the year is back again! Costa del Soul will take place from the 26th October to the 3rd November at Sunset Beach Club. This is the 4th year running that Goldsoul – a well established UK soul event promoter – has chosen our hotel as a venue for their increasingly popular week long soul event.
More than 10 DJ’s from the UK will be featuring the full spectrum of Soul from the early days in the UK at famous clubs like the Twisted Wheel, Golden Torch, Blackpool Mecca, Wigan Casino through the 80′s.
Goldsoul are offering a 7 night package, excluding flights and guest will be able to enjoy a fantastic week of Classic Soul music from the 60′s, Motown, Northern Soul era through the 70′s and 80′s with the best Modern and Boogie Disco Anthems.
Daily Events
- From 2pm to 4:30pm every day, the Tikki Pool Bar is the place to be with chill out tunes, sun and sangria
- The Panorama Bar will offer a happy hour and laid back soul sessions from 6pm to 9pm; Live sports events such as Premiership and Champions League football.
- After dinner its time to dance the night away in the Moonlight Theatre, the special dance venue which will be open from 9:30pm to 2am every week night and from 9:30pm to 3:30pm on Friday and Saturday.
Soul fans living on the Costa del Sol or staying at other hotels or accommodation are welcome to the daily sessions in the Moonlight Theatre; it’s just €10 Euros per person/session.

The Costa del Sol is known for its wide choice of street markets – or flea markets, as they are sometimes referred to. As visiting these markets seems to be on most of our guest’s to-do lists, we thought we’d put together a short and concise guide featuring the most popular markets along the coast.

Barbershop Singers Convention Comes to Benalmádena

Don’t be surprised if you are walking down the street in Benalmadena next weekend – from the 22nd to 25th March 2012 – and come across groups of singers performing a cappella! You’ll have witnessed barbershop singers and enthusiasts showing off their harmony singing talents.
Benalmadena will welcome approximately 600 barbershop singers for the 4th annual convention of the Spanish Association of Barbershop Singers (SABS). Delegates will be flying in from the Americas, the UK and from all over Europe.
Barbershop singing originated in the United States in the early 1900’s and has since gained worldwide popularity with thousands of singers practising and promoting this unique art form of four-part a cappella singing. Read More→
Kneller Golf Society Choose Sunset Beach Club for their Golf Holiday

Kneller Golf Society - all the way from Twickenham
We’re pleased to welcome the Kneller Golf Society to Sunset Beach Club. This is the second year in a row that they choose Sunset Beach Club for their yearly golf society trip!
In the photo above you can see the guys with Annemie (from our Golf Desk) just after a great round of golf at Torrequebrada. I think they were on their way to the Panorama Bar to catch Happy Hour!
The group booked all their accommodation and golf tee times through our Golf Desk Service; Annemie even arranged all their transfers from the airport and to all the golf courses they are playing at during their stay.
The guys have had a busy week of golf and there is more to come…..they have played the following courses: Lauro Golf, El Chaparral, Torrequebrada and Alhaurin. Tomorrow they play Miraflores and on Friday they will be playing at our sister resort of La Cala; all in all, a great week of golf!

Costa del Soul – A Week of the Best Soul Music

Costa del Soul - The best Soul Music at Sunset Beach Club
At the end of October, we welcome back, for the 2nd year running, Gold Soul – a well established UK Soul event promoter – and their week long “Costa del Soul” event.
Sunset Beach Club will become a haven for Soul music enthusiasts who will enjoy a week of the best soul tunes and, of course, the hotel’s fantastic facilities.
Some of the UK’s best DJ’s will fly in for the event and will delight fans with their mix of Northern Soul, Modern Anthems, Motown and 5 decades of great soul music. The fun begins each day with some light sessions by the pool (14:00 to 16:00) Sun, sea, sangria and some great soul! From 18:00 to 21:00 you can enjoy some more light sessions in the Panorama Bar, making the most of happy our and the amazing views.
However, the real party begins at 21:00 hrs in the Moonlight Bar! Get ready for 7 nights of dancing to the best soul music as the DJ’s take to the stage! (Nige Brown, Chris King, John Poole, Dave Evison and Rob Thomas are just some of the DJ’s flying in).
This week long event is hosted by Kev Roberts – one of the main forces in Northern Soul and Retro Pop music – and we expect to accommodate many fans flying down from the UK specially for the event.
