Next month – from the 4th to the 6th of July – the stunning white village of Mijas will host the 8th edition of its popular International Blues Festival. An impressive line up of free concerts awaits blues fans with veteran artists such as Jimmy Thomas, Bob Margolin, John Primer, West Weston, Jerimiah Marques and Bob Stroger taking part in the weekend’s festivities.
The ‘Feria Internacional de los Pueblos’ (International People’s Fair) in Fuengirola takes place from the 30th April to the 4th May (2014), making good use of the long May bank holiday weekend – or ‘Puente’, as it is known here.
This colourful celebration has become one of the city’s main tourist attractions – and one of the most popular – with a million yearly visitors. As in previous years, 33 countries and regions from all over the world will take part in the festivities by showing off the best of their gastronomy, traditional products, music and folklore.
On the 22nd and 23rd November our Moonlight Bar will host the 6th edition of ‘Blues at Moonlight’, a festival which offers a mix of rockabilly and music with true American roots.
Organised and produced by Active Sound Productions, this year’s event will feature an impressive line up of musicians flying in from all over Europe especially to take part in this festival.
The 4th November 2013 sees the start of the 27th edition of the International Jazz Festival of Malaga. For seven magical days (until the 10th November) the Cervantes Theatre located in Malaga’s historic centre will host a series of concerts featuring top class musicians including Eric Alexander, Dorantes, Enrico Pieranunzi, the Suzette Moncrief Jazz Band or Kroke.
Are you ready to enjoy 4 days of music, dancing, delicious food and lots of great ‘vino’? This Thursday sees the start of the Feria de San Miguel in Torremolinos; from the 26th to the 29th September our neighbouring town will be in full festive mode to celebrate the most important date on their calendar.
Once again, Active Sound Productions, a local production company specialising in the organisation of musical events on the Costa del Sol have organised an evening of the best live music in Sunset Beach Club’s Moonlight Theatre.
For the 3rd year in a row we are delighted to welcome back Buddy Walker with his fabulous tribute to the legendary Buddy Holly. A talented singer and musician, Buddy Walker is a previous winner of ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ where he performed his tribute to the rock ‘n roll legend.Walker has taken his tribute show all over the world and has even played on the stage of the legendary Surf Ballroom in Clearlake, Iowa, where Buddy Holly first played live.
The Buddy Holly Show which will take place on the 5th October 2013 is a tribute to one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century and his exceptional songs. His music has inspired some of the greatest artists of our time: The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Hollies and Bob Dylan to name but a few.
Next week sees the start of the 54th edition of the Nerja Caves Music and Dance Festival. As we’ve come to expect, this year’s line up of artists is just as impressive as previous editions and includes guitar ‘maestro’ Manolo Sanlúcar.
The festival will take place from the 24th to the 27th July; it has been shortened to just 4 days in order to reduce its impact on the conservation and maintenance of these famous caves.
For the 7th year running (from the 5th to 7th July) this fantastic festival, organised by ‘Aint Nothin’ But…’ and the Mijas Town Hall Foreigner’s Department, will once again provide 3 days of the best Blues music; and all for FREE!
This year the whole festival will be held in the main ‘Plaza’ and visitors will also be able to enjoy lots of delicious food and drink in the many bars and restaurants surrounding the square (that part isn’t free though ;-))
As we approach the busy summer season, we’ve decided to put together our – now regular – list of the top concerts on the Costa del Sol for this summer 2013. There are some fantastic musicians and entertainers performing live at various venues along the Coast; however, this year, one event stands out from the rest: The Starlite Festival in Marbella.
After the success of last year’s series of concerts in the concert arena located in the Nagueles quarry, the organisers have lined up an even more impressive list of top international and Spanish artists including Julio Iglesias, Jamie Cullum, Bryan Adams, Paco de Lucía, UB40 and Alejandro Sanz. The Starlite Festival will run from the 23rd July to the 24th August and you can see the schedule for the concerts below.

Organised by the foreigners department of Mijas Town Hall, this fun 3 day event is a must-see for anyone visiting the Costa del Sol next weekend. More than 20 countries and nationalities take part in this festival which includes music, dancing, delicious foods from all over the world, street performers, giant BBQ’s, handcrafted goods, special performaces (see below) and general all round fun!
