The Essential Guide to the Caminito del Rey (The World’s Scariest Walkway)

Caminito del Rey MalagaIt’s been described as the world’s scariest – and until recently –  most dangerous walkway in the world and it’s reopening to the public on the 28th March 2015. We are, of course, talking about the Caminito del Rey (King’s Walkway) situated in the Gaitanes  Gorge, about 1 hour  north of Benalmádena.

This breathtaking walkway which, in certain areas, towers 100 metres above the river bed, has been closed to the public since 2001. The 100 year old path was in a precarious condition and local authorities decided to close it after a series of fatal accidents. Although officially closed, it’s remained a favourite attraction for thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies looking for the ultimate experience (see video below for proof!). (more…)

This year (2015) Benalmadena Marina – also known as Puerto Marina – is set to become the port with the most varied leisure and entertainment programme in all Andalucia.

Benalmadena Town Hall and the Association of Business Owners in the Marina have put together a new plan to energize the Marina and turn it into a true theme park. To fulfil this challenging objective, they’ve organised a large number of activities and events to take place during the spring and autumn seasons, activities which all have one clear theme: The sea! Benalmadena’s Beaches Receive ‘Q’ Quality Award Certification 

Q de Calidad Turistica Playas de BenalmadenaLast week the Mayor of Benalmadena, Paloma García Gálvez, was in Fitur travel fair last week to promote our beautiful municipality and to receive an important award: The ‘Q’ for Quality awarded to all the city’s urban beaches.

This highly regarded distinction has actually been visible on Benalmadena beaches since the summer; last weeks presentation just made the award official!

The beaches included in the award comprise all located on the stretch of coast which goes from Fuente de la Salud Beach all the way to the beach at Sunset Beach Club. (more…)
