Torremolinos Hosts the European Dance Championship: 24th February to 1st March

European Dance Championship in TorremolinosFrom the 24th February to 1st March 2014, Torremolinos will host the 25th edition of the European Dance Championships, an event that each year attracts around 1000 participants from all over Europe.

The extensive programme of events will have almost a dozen competitions, all taking place in one location: The ‘Palacio San Miguel’. This year spectators will be able to enjoy the following competitions: The European Combined (Waltz, tango, pasodoble); the Spanish Combined; the European Tango, Waltz, Pasodoble, Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, Rock and Artistic Dance Championships.

To complete the vast programme, there will also be two group competitions: The Spanish Dance Championship and the European Dance Groups Championship. (more…)

New Tourist Train to Benalmadena Pueblo

IMPORTANT UPDATE (Sept 2015)…. This train service has been cancelled until further notice!

Those of you who have visited Benalmadena will be familiar with the small ‘hop on, hop off’ tourist trains which ferry passengers around the Marina and the central area of Arroyo de la Miel. Well, in the next few weeks, the company that runs these trains will be introducing a new service taking tourists and visitors to Benalmadena Pueblo, located in the hills overlooking the coast.

If you’ve never been to Benalmadena Pueblo, this is the perfect opportunity to visit this stunning and picturesque village. The new tourist train service will leaves from the Alay Hotel (approx. 30 minutes walk from Sunset Beach Club) at 9:30am every morning. (more…)

Thomas Cook Pullout Could Mean Holiday Flight Shortage for Irish Travellers

Holiday flight shortage for Irish Travellers?An article in the Irish Independent last friday caught our eye. It seems that travel giant Thomas Cook plans to exit the Irish charter holiday market, a decision – which travel agents are warning – will affect consumers due to a shortage of supply in last minute holiday deals this summer.

Aer Lingus has already scheduled new flights this summer to several sunny destinations, including a flight from Shannon to Malaga; great news for many of our Sunset Beach Club guests who wont have to fly from Cork or Dublin. Expect the Irish carrier to search for further growth opportunities following the Thomas Cook announcement; hopefully with more flight options to Malaga 🙂 (more…)

During the cooler months of winter (January, February and March) locals and visitors will be able to sample a wide selection of tasty local homemade dishes and stews. Benalmadena has always been known as a sun and sea destination, attracting visitors from all over Europe in the warmer high season months.

During the quieter winter period, demand and interest for the resort suffers an important drop. The winter months – although offering the warmest and sunniest weather in continental Europe – do not provide the ideal conditions for your typical beach holiday.

That being said, Benalmadena does provide fantastic activities and attractions for visitors looking to enjoy Spanish culture and explore the wonders of our beautiful coastline.
