The excellent quality of our waters and the nutrients they contain make it possible to produce high quality mussels. Since last summer a local company aims to give away the secrets to mussel production through tourist visits, a very interesting activity for tourists who wish to learn about the fishing culture of Malaga and its contribution to the economies of local families.

You can visit the mussel farming facility located in front of the Castillo de Santa Clara to learn how these molluscs are grown and the method of collection used in this area. (more…)

IMPORTANT UPDATE (Sept 2015)…. This train service has been cancelled until further notice!

Those of you who have visited Benalmadena will be familiar with the small ‘hop on, hop off’ tourist trains which ferry passengers around the Marina and the central area of Arroyo de la Miel. Well, in the next few weeks, the company that runs these trains will be introducing a new service taking tourists and visitors to Benalmadena Pueblo, located in the hills overlooking the coast.

If you’ve never been to Benalmadena Pueblo, this is the perfect opportunity to visit this stunning and picturesque village. The new tourist train service will leaves from the Alay Hotel (approx. 30 minutes walk from Sunset Beach Club) at 9:30am every morning. (more…)

Visit Lobo Park and Learn the Truth About Wolves

Lobo Park (Wolf Park) is located in the true heart of Andalucía (see map below) and is the only wild like park of its kind.

Founded by Daniel Weigend and Alexandra Stieber as a private initiative in 2002, Lobo Park soon opened its doors to the general public in 2004 and has since welcomed thousands of visitors. Last weekend I took my family on a day trip to Sierra Nevada. The kids had been bugging me for weeks that they wanted to go and see the snow, so after quickly checking the weather forecast (didn’t want to drive all the way up the mountain to find that the ski station was closed due to bad weather) we decided to head out on Saturday morning.

The beauty of Sierra Nevada is that it’s just a couple of hours drive from Benalmádena. We left at 8:00am and – after a short breakfast stop – arrived in Europe’s most southern ski resort at around 11:00am.  (more…)
