Looks like all who saw in the New Year with us here at Sunset Beach Club had a great time! The restaurant team did a great job decorating the Oasis Restaurant for the occasion and ensuring that all guests had a fantastic New Year’s Eve experience; Shout out to the team in the kitchens who prepared some delicious food for the occasion!
This year we were lucky enough to get Ricky Lavazza to provide the entertainment for the evening and, as usual, he didn’t disappoint…Judging by the photos, there was a fair bit of boogieing going on!

All our guests and anyone living on the Coast are more than welcome to come and join us for a fantastic evening of delicious food, live music, dancing and a drink or two!
We’ll be starting off the evening with a cocktail reception at 8:30pm followed by a 5 course gala dinner and live music. This year we’ve got a special treat as we’ve got one of the Coast’s top entertainers to provide the entertainment for the evening: Ricky Lavazza! The Soul event of the year is back again! Costa del Soul will take place from the 26th October to the 3rd November at Sunset Beach Club. This is the 4th year running that Goldsoul – a well established UK soul event promoter – has chosen our hotel as a venue for their increasingly popular week long soul event.
More than 10 DJ’s from the UK will be featuring the full spectrum of Soul from the early days in the UK at famous clubs like the Twisted Wheel, Golden Torch, Blackpool Mecca, Wigan Casino through the 80’s.
Goldsoul are offering a 7 night package, excluding flights and guest will be able to enjoy a fantastic week of Classic Soul music from the 60’s, Motown, Northern Soul era through the 70’s and 80’s with the best Modern and Boogie Disco Anthems.
Daily Events
From 2pm to 4:30pm every day, the Tikki Pool Bar is the place to be with chill out tunes, sun and sangria 🙂
The Panorama Bar will offer a happy hour and laid back soul sessions from 6pm to 9pm; Live sports events such as Premiership and Champions League football.
After dinner its time to dance the night away in the Moonlight Theatre, the special dance venue which will be open from 9:30pm to 2am every week night and from 9:30pm to 3:30pm on Friday and Saturday.
Soul fans living on the Costa del Sol or staying at other hotels or accommodation are welcome to the daily sessions in the Moonlight Theatre; it’s just €10 Euros per person/session.
The Sunset Beach Club Committee met in Edinburgh this past weekend for their annual Autumn Committee Meeting and the 26th Annual General Meeting.
Despite cold temperatures (0ºC!) a number of local Members attended including a couple that had come all the way from Dorset!
Patricia Reid (see photo below) who has been a familiar face on the Committee for the last 7 years chose to retire and Danish born Inge Letvinka was unanimously voted in favour as her replacement. Michael Orlien (Committee Chairman) was re-elected for a further term of 3 years. Minutes of the meeting and the topics discussed under any other business will be circulated to all fully paid members in the forthcoming weeks before Xmas.

It’s almost a year since we welcomed the ‘Arcos de Buenos Aires’ company to out Moonlight Theatre for their first Tango Show. The success of their unique mix of Tango and Argentinian Folk music (Performed by a string chamber orchestra) brought them back to Sunset Beach Club in May and on the 14th of September they will once again be delighting guests and locals with their new show “La Reina del Plata”.
Artistic Director, Walter O. Tejeda Carranza has once again put together a beautiful show with 16 artists performing on stage, including professional tango dancers and a string chamber orchestra. The link below will take you to the company’s Youtube channel where you’ll find a large selection of video clips that will give you a good idea of what you can expect to see on the evening of the 14th.
The “Reina del Plata” Tango Show will take place in the Moonlight Theatre on Friday 14th September 2012. The show starts at 9pm and tickets are just €10; these can be purchased at the door on the night or at the Sunset Beach Club Leisure desk.
Many of our guests ask us the best method of transport to travel from Málaga Airport to Sunset Beach Club; the good news is that there are various ways to get to Benalmádena, including taxi, bus, hire car or even by train.
The quickest and easiest way is by car – be it rental car or taxi – so we decided to show you the way in a slightly different format…A Timelapse video!
Whilst filming our recent series of promotional videos for Sunset Beach Club, our video producer decided to mount a small (Gopro) camera onto the bonnet of his car and shoot a Timelapse video of the journey from the Malaga Airport Terminal to the entrance of Sunset Beach Club.
