St Patricks Day 2014 at Sunset Beach ClubIn just under a week, green will be the prominent colour here at Sunset Beach Club as we prepare to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! As many of you know, we’re an Irish owned company so this is a big day on our events calendar.

We recommend our guests start off the festivities by heading up to Arroyo de la Miel for the traditional Parade organised by the Irish Association and which takes place every year through the streets of the town. It all starts at 12.15 pm with mass in the Virgen del Carmen Church followed by the parade down to the Paloma Park fair ground where the ‘Party in the Park’ takes place. Read More…

Three Kings ParadeThis Sunday night sees the arrival of the Three Kings, Gaspar, Melchor and Balthazar. Excitement is the operative word as kids (and some adults) eagerly await the arrival of the Three Kings of Orient bearing gifts for all those who have been good over the past year :-)

The fun begins a little earlier though, as the Three Wise Men delight crowds in the traditional parades which take place in all the major cities, towns and villages on the afternoon of the 5th January.

Families will be lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the gift-bearing Kings sitting comfortably in their spectacular carriages which slowly make their way through the carefully planned routes. Make sure you take a plastic bag to collect all the sweets which will be thrown in to the crowds from the carriages! Read More…

An Afternoon at Bioparc [Photos]

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

This summer one of our colleagues braved the hot weather to visit Fuengirola’s famous zoo, Bioparc; he tells us it was definitely worth the sacrifice ;-)

Who would have thought that you could find such a beautiful spot full of the most fascinating wildlife in the centre of town. Although the park is quite small, don’t let this put you off. The design and layout of the park is spectacular and at times you really do feel as if you are walking through the jungles of Asia or the African Savanna.

In the photos below you’ll see a small sample of the animals and birdlife that inhabit Bioparc. You’ll notice that a lot of effort has gone into creating installations and scenery which mimic the animals natural habitat; the tiger’s area is absolutely amazing!

If you’ve yet to visit Bioparc, we hope these photos will help convince you to visit next time you are on holiday on the Costa del Sol :-)

Feria de Benalmadena Pueblo 2013Next week is ‘Feria’ week here in Benalmadena with the ‘Pueblo’ (Town) celebrating  festivities in honor of their patron, the Virgen de la Cruz.

  • The traditional ‘Chocolatada’ which takes place every morning at 11.00am in the Plaza de España. Organised by the town hall, it’s basically free hot chocolate for everyone! Head on up there for breakfast one day and try some original Spanish hot chocolote (note: we’re not sure if the ‘churros’ are included ;-)) Read More…
