The Arroyo de la Miel Tapas Fair: From the 21st to the 27th May

Tapas fair in arroyo de la mielNext Monday the 21st May 2012 sees the start of the Arroyo de la Miel Tapas Fair. The recent tapas boom has made its way to Arroyo and for a whole week will offer local businesses a great opportunity to attract new business.

This year the event organisers have established a few new rules for the event: The usual Tapas credentials (little booklets) will be available for all who wish to participate but only one stamp will be allowed per establishment. In order to be able to enter the great prize draw, participants will have to obtain 10 stamps, one for each tapa consumed in a different bar or restaurant. It’s a great incentive to visit more establishments.

Credentials will be available in the actual bars and restaurants participating in the tapas fair; once they are filled in with the compulsory 10 stamps, they can be deposited in special containers made available. The prize draw will be held at the end of the week and all participants who deposited their stamped credentials will have the chance to win one of the wonderful prizes and gifts!

The 26 establishments taking part in the fair will also have the chance to win prizes for best tasting tapa, best presentation and best preparation.

Our Head Chef and his fantastic team have recently introduced a new addition to the – already ample – evening dining options in the Oasis Restaurant: A Homemade Dish of the Day!

Every evening, guests who choose to dine in the Oasis Restaurant will have the option to try a delicious homemade dish of the day. Feedback from guests has been very positive and the kitchen team will be constantly tweaking the options available. The dishes are very reasonably prices between €10 and €12 for a main course and between €13 and €15 if you wish to add the soup of the day as a started. Fuengirola Launches New Gastronomic Initiative: “Grandma’s Casserole”

La Cazuela de la Abuela FuengirolaFrom the 17th to the 26th February, Fuengirola will be presenting their latest gastronomic offering to help promote the town’s restaurants and bars: the 1st ‘Cazuela dela Abuela’ (literally translated as Grandma’s Casserole).

During the event, visitors and locals will be able to sample delicious home made stews, like the ones our grandma’s used to prepare! For the very reasonable price of €2, all participating restaurants will serve up a generous helping of warm stew (served in a clay bowl) and a drink; you can choose beer, wine or a soft drink.

Fuengirola continues to experiment and innovate with these original themed events designed to promote the towns gastronomic offering – a perfect example is last years Erotic Tapas Route – There is no doubt that this type of activity helps support the restaurant trade which, during the quiet winter months, can use all the help they can get to fill their establishments. Santa has made a very big effort to fit us into his extremely busy schedule and will be stopping off at Sunset Beach Club at midday (12 pm) on Christmas day. All kids staying at the hotel will get a chance to speak to Santa and they’ll even get a present from him!

Mums and Dads are also invited to a traditional Bucks Fizz cocktail whilst the kids are playing with their new toys J

#2 – A Delicious Christmas Lunch

Our Head Chef and his team have been slaving away in our kitchens and have come up with an amazing traditional Christmas lunch for our guests. Here’s a peek at the menu:

Wines, Cava, liqueurs, coffee and mince pies are all included in this special Christmas menu priced at €49 for adults and €15 for children aged 3 to 12.

The restaurant opens at 1:00 pm and lunch will be served at 1:30 pm.

During – and after – your amazing Christmas lunch, you’ll be able to enjoy live music with the fabulous Michelle Jane. A great opportunity to dance off those extra pounds you will have just put on!
