If you enjoy a warm and hearty casserole during these cooler winter days (well, cooler by Costa del Sol standards) then we highly recommend you take a quick trip down to Fuengirola for their annual ‘Cazuela de la Abuela’ (Grandma’s Casserole) event which starts this weekend.

Fuengirola’s Great Beer Festival 2017 at the Sohail Castle

Grand Beer Festival in FuengirolaThe spectacular Sohail Castle in Fuengirola will, once again, host the city’s very own ‘Oktoberfest’: the 9th edition of its Grand Beer Festival.

This fun beer festival (Oktoberfest Olé) opens to the public from the 18th August to the 3rd September. If you’re a beer lover, this is one stop you’ll have to make during your holiday. Marquees and large tables will be set up throughout the castle grounds allowing you to sample the finest Bavarian beers and tasty dishes including German sausages, frikadellen and sauerkraut. All this accompanied by live music from a true German orchestra as well as other live music events.

The Torremolinos Oktoberfest: From the 20th to 23rd October

Oktoberfest Beer Festival in Torremolinos - 2016Our neighbours in Torremolinos will be celebrating the second edition of their ‘Oktoberfest’ beer festival from Thursday 20th October to Sunday 23rd October.

The event will be held in a large thousand square metre marquee located in ‘Plaza de la Nogalera’ and will be open to the public from 12pm til late every day. Visitors will be able to sample some of the World’s best beers as this year’s festival will have a special bar serving beers from all over the world including those made from wheat and barley, black beers and other select flavours. Another highlight this year will be the ‘Jägermeister’ tap serving shots of the famous herbal liqueur at -10ºC! (more…)

The local Hindu community have worked in conjunction with the Benalmadena Town Hall to prepare a fun and authentic event which is open to everyone. Mijas Village Relives the Napoleonic Invasion

Recreation of the napoleonic invasion of Mijas PuebloThis weekend – 10th & 11th October – the village of Mijas will be recreating the Napoleonic invasion of 1808, a historic event when the villagers had to defend their homes from Napoleon troops.

Mijas Town Hall has been organising this event since 2009 together with the Torrijos 1831 Cultural & Historic Association; its uniqueness has certainly increased its popularity since then!

To add a little more flavour to the events, this year, the local artisans and business associations have decided to contribute to the activities by putting on an Artisans Market offering all sorts 19th century themed goodies including: soaps, crystal and glass products, leather goods and Mexican jewellery which, in those times, were shipped to Spain from the New World.
