The Costa del Sol is known for its wide choice of street markets – or flea markets, as they are sometimes referred to. As visiting these markets seems to be on most of our guest’s to-do lists, we thought we’d put together a short and concise guide featuring the most popular markets along the coast (You’ll find a link to download a printable version at the end of this post).
Many of the local street markets combine flea markets and boot sales, so for the sake of this guide, we’ll just refer to all as street markets. Although we haven’t included all the markets which take place throughout the week, we have tried to add all the ones that we’ve actually been to and that our guests have recommended.
On the 24th February 2023, our neighbouring town of Fuengirola kicks off the 13th edition of the “Ruta de la Tapa Erótica” (Erotic Tapas Route), a fun and original idea which, since the first edition, has become a reference all over Spain.
It’s been a couple of years since Fuengirola last hosted this Tapas Route and we’re looking forward to enjoying some interesting and creative tapas over the next few weeks.
Up until the 13th March, visitors to Fuengirola will be able to enjoy this traditional Spanish snack, with a slightly “spicy” touch. All establishments that take part, will prepare a sensual and fun tapa, with creativity and flair being the main ingredients. Some of the participating establishments will also be offering special ‘gluten-free’, sweet or vegetarian tapas.
Anyone who visits one of the participating restaurants or bars will be able to sample one of these “erotic” tapas and a cool beer (or glass of wine) for a – very reasonable – €3.50. If you choose one of the sweet dessert tapas available in some establishments, you can choose to accompany it with a coffee, tea or sweet wine.
Are you planning on visiting Benalmadena for the February Half term holidays?
At Sunset Beach Club we’ve put together a fantastic activities programme for all the family which you won’t want to miss. Add to that all the fun things to do in the area and the great-value room rates during the month of February and you’ve got the makings of a wonderful half-term break.
Benalmadena town hall has organised a fantastic programme of events for the whole family in the Marina this Christmas.
The fun begins tonight with the official ‘switching on’ of the Christmas Lights in the Christmas Village set up in the Marina for the whole festive period. The festive events conclude on the 5th January, when the 3 Kings arrive by boat before setting off on their parade through the streets of Benalmadena.
The Christmas Village will be located in the Marina’s Eastern parking area (next to the new Ferris Wheel) from 1st December 2022 to the 5th January 2023. It’ll be the perfect place to get into the Christmas spirit with all the family and will include…
On the 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th November 2022, the Moonlight Bar at Sunset Beach Club will once again host Blues at Moonlight, an international music festival for fans of Rockabilly and music with true American roots.
Now in its 14th year, the event promises a fantastic line-up of international (and national) artists and groups. Having established itself as one of the most important festivals in this musical genre, Blues at Moonlight is definitely one to add to your calendar!
The daytime/afternoon activities (DJ’s and live music) will take place in our Oasis Restaurant.
Charging Station in the Sunset Beach Club underground parking
With more and more electric vehicles on the road and a distinct lack of charging stations, we’ve decided to install our very own in the hotel’s underground garage (we’ll be installing them in the outside parking too).
Guests with electric vehicles will now be able to easily charge them at one of the ‘Activacharge’ stations in our garage. Easy overnight charging means their cars will be fully topped up in the morning so they can explore the Costa del Sol without worrying about having to find somewhere to charge their vehicle.
At Sunset Beach Club we now offer guests the option of renting a 100% electric car through a Carsharing service.
Designed for hotel guests who prefer a more sustainable mobility option to travel, this new service will offer them the opportunity to visit the most emblematic sites of Malaga and Andalucia.
Through Activacar, providers of 100% electric mobility, we offer a new easy-to-use service. Our customers will always have an electric vehicle available in the interior car park of our hotel (3rd floor) to be able to move around the coast in a sustainable way.
Sunset Beach Club has some stunning spots to snap that perfect holiday photo.
We’ve put together a list of the best places to take a selfie – each one marked by a unique ‘Selfie’ sticker – in our hotel so that you can take home a beautiful photo and keepsake of your holiday with us.
And where are these ‘Selfie Spots’?
Grab your phone and your selfie stick and let’s go for a walk!
So you’re planning a family holiday with the kids and the Costa del Sol is top of your list… but you’re looking for some fun things to do with the little – or not-so-little – ones during your holiday.
Well, you’re going to love this post as we are going to give you a list of 50 fun activities, excursions, parks, daytrips, outdoor activities, cultural activities, water parks and some inland adventure activities you can enjoy whilst you are here. If you enjoy adventure games and challenges then you’re going to love Benalmadena’s fabulous adventure attraction: Prison Island!
After being closed for the last 2 years due to the pandemic, this fun attraction is once again open to the public! And they’ve updated many of the cells and games to create new challenges 🙂
Located in Benalmadena Marina’s main shopping centre, this fun attraction promises hours of fun and adventure for all the family (from 9 to 99 years of age!). Based on hit TV show ‘Fort Boyard’ the Prison Island experience requires participants to work in teams to solve tricky challenges and tasks in a series of ‘cells’ in order to collect the maximum number of points. These challenges require a series of skills including physical, mental and tactical.
A visit to Prison Island is the perfect activity for a fun family outing. Work together as a team to solve problems and earn the maximum number of points. (more…)
