Many of you will know that our original plan was to close the hotel from the 1st December 2020 to 7th January 2021 to carry out some refurbishment work in the reception area of the hotel.
Due to the unforeseen circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 virus, we’ve decided to
postpone the planned work and keep the hotel open over the winter, including
the all-important Christmas and New Year period.

Whenever I speak to guests who are thinking of travelling to Benalmadena (and to Sunset Beach Club, of course) one of the first questions I get asked is “What’s the weather like in Benalmadena?” It’s to be expected, after all, most visitors are coming to the Costa del Sol to enjoy the sun!
So, I thought I’d write a quick blog post about the weather in Benalmádena; average temperatures, what to expect at different times of the year, and how to keep up to date with local weather forecasts. (more…)
Next week Benalmadena will host the 2nd Half Marathon and 5th Coast Run organised by Holiday World Resort and the Benalmadena Town Hall. All funds raised during both events will go to the Proyecto Hombre foundation in Málaga.
UPDATE: After a long 4-month delay due to problems with the road access to the shopping centre, Designer Outlet Malaga will finally open to the public in Thursday 13th February 2020.
Shopaholics will be delighted to know that McArthurGlen will be opening Designer Outlet Málaga on the 13th February 2020, the first shopping destination of its kind in Spain.
The 17,750 metre squared shopping centre will be located next to the famous Plaza Mayor Shopping centre next to Málaga airport and a short 20-minute drive from Sunset Beach Club. (more…)

Those of you who have been lucky enough to celebrate New Year’s Eve here in Spain will be familiar with the tradition of eating 12 ‘lucky’grapes as the clock strikes midnight. If you haven’t the faintest idea what we are talking about, be sure to read on as we explain where this bizarre tradition originated and what it actually entails.
Although many believe the tradition of eating the 12 lucky grapes at midnight on New Year’s Eve originated in 1909 due to a bumper crop of white grapes in the Almeria, Murcia and Alicante regions, it appears that this might not be entirely correct. (more…)

Arroyo de la Miel is getting ready to celebrate the 37th edition of its famous ‘Carrera Urbana del Pavo’ (Urban Turkey Race) which will take place on Sunday the 15th December, 2019.
This traditional race was first held 37 years ago when participants had to run after a live turkey! Nowadays the turkey is taking a well-earned rest; however, the winner of the race does get to take home a fantastic specimen to enjoy with their family over Christmas dinner! 🙂 (more…)
